No Chiesa no Zaniolo the others are not really a suprise. No Kayode but we really don’t know if Gatusso will stick with a 352. With all these CFs it seems like he is trying to use both the 442 and 352. Regarding Tresoldi Germany may be stronger than us at the moment but I think he has a better chance getting caps for Germany than us because we are far deeper at the forward positions. They only have Woltemende really. They’ve had a worse CF drought than us and remember Klose is polish and was naturalized so their drought goes back to the 90s.
I wasn’t expecting Zaniolo but I thought for sure it was Chiesa’s time. Something is going on there. Caprile is the only new addition. Happy for him as he has been playing really good this year. Napoli are going to regret selling him.
for sure I phrased that wrong just that those are the only ones anyone could point to but Chiesa is his own category. Perhaps Slot and Gatusso truly are managing his minutes for his own good at the moment.
Caprile fun GK to watch. More of an old school style that I like. Meret was really improving vastly over prior three season, too bad it seems he is dealing with a fractured foot I absolutely hate the Scamacca call up. Makes me angry.
I don’t mind the Scamacca call up. I think it’s inevitable that as long as he’s healthy, he’s going to play in. Gattuso wants to play with two CFs so he’s going to need two CF backups. He has three wingers and Raspadori as his joker card he can insert anywhere. These next two games aren’t crucial because Norway are going to hammer Estonia and our final match is going to be meaningless. But it would have been an excellent opportunity for Chiesa to rejoin the squad and give the team a boost. As least for the sake of building new chemistry.
Luciano Valente has been called up by The Netherlands. A shame because he showed more interest in playing for Italy than Tresoldi has. Asleep at the wheel, Gattuso. Until last window they were calling Maldini.
Just putting this out there... Italy has never made it a priority to go after dual Nats so the other NT doesn't cap tie them (I don’t count the Soule overture because he was ready to step right in). Valente with the Oranje and now according to this social media post it appears as if Michael Kayode was approached by Nigeria. Just look at these responses to the selections: So now we lost Valente. We could still lose Tresoldi, Kayode, and even Ahanor in the future. Chiesa is officially not in Gattuso's plans. I look forward to our next coach.
Tresoldi is arguably having a better season than Pio but definitely Scamacca. And I can pull quotes from him talking about his Italian blood and being enthusiast for a call up. Valente just got called up by the Dutch who already have an excellent midfield. Kayode was player of the month for a middle of the pack English team (which is a much better league than Serie A). Ahanor is the 13th highest rated U18 player in the world according to transfermarkt. He I fear won't be called up when its time like the others. Roberto Mancini took a chance with Retegui who was an Argentinian youth player. Look how well that turned out. He took a chance at youngsters like Gnonto and Pafundi. Gattuso is just another Spalletti, refusing these types of players (as well as players outside of Italy & England) while sticking with a few shit old guard players.
Gattuso is clueless. Tresoldi should have been called up now. Also kayode should have been called up, what does he have to do a million times better than di lorenzo is. If we lose him to Nigeria it's a huge huge blow. Valente we have now lost as well, a really good player. The selections are a joke as well.should be Di gregorio for vicario. Kayode, spinnazola and coppola for di lorenzo, gabbia, mancini. Leoni and scalvini in when fit. Chiesa, tresoldi and grifo for politano, raspadori and zaccagni. That would be a miles better squad. Gattuso is clueless he really is. I doubt we will qualify. How can he not make the right selections its criminal.
The only thing I know of Valente is from YouTube highlights. He looks like he has good feet. Every call up Gattuso seems to give someone a chance like Cambiaghi and now Caprile. Gattuso needs to start taking chances in selections. Our midfield is hot garbage
Kean to miss fiorentina game with injury so I doubt he will be available now. Maybe gattuso might replace him with chiesa or tresoldi or grifo then again pigs might fly. If he isn't fit and replaces him my money is on piccoli been called up.
Maybe pinamonti deserves a callup at some point as well. Just putting it out there. Id like to see mandragora given a chance at some point and maybe fazzini. Also wondering what people think if verratti comes back to Europe in January at 33 years old if he has a good end to the season and is playing in europe does he have a chance of been in the squad. Any thoughts on any of these points fellow azzurri sufferers.
