I have not been a fan of the Sir Bryan call up, but I must adapt. If Sir Bryan plays, it is imperative Gattuso has Sir Bryan make the near post runs on corner kicks. He has proven time and time again that is a strength of his, whether heading on goal or flicking on. It is a weapon.

He has but always looks a step slow against national team competition. It's fine for Estonia and Israeli I guess.

And Matteo Palma of Udinese who is 16 and 6'4. Did not realize he was on the German Under teams.

Gattuso says Chiesa isn't 100%. Oh well.

Gattuso also keeps opening up his mouth about Gaza. Stop inciting the Israelis and focus on calcio. This politics sh*t really annoys me. Hopefully Norway spouts some anti-Israeli stuff ahead of Saturday's game and the Israelis come out fired up. We could really use a draw in that game.

“The Chiesa issue is very simple,” Gattuso said. “I talk to my players a lot, and I want to make that clear, a lot. I speak every week with Fede and he knows what I think of him, but I also have to respect what the player tells me.

“He does not feel at 100 per cent and wants to be at 100 per cent, that is the truth.”

Actually I am not sure that Gatusso is the one who decided not to include him. It seems that it was Chiesa’s desicion guys!

the thing is in Italy and a lot of europe its not so obscured as it is in north america. it is non partisan and non political to call it out as a tragedy because on european tv they show the horrors daily and the italian public is mostly unanimous. If Gatusso is asked it would be morally difficult for him as a man to pretend it's not happening.

It's not a normal political situation.

So it seems like Gatusso is sticking with a 442 but the idea will be to either use a midfielder on one side or a fullback like Cambiaso/Spinazolla on one side. It basically becomes a hybrid 352/442 but the players are linning up in a 442. It's not disimalr to Diego Simones ideas.

I think this is the right path for Italy. 352 can become a bit rigid. It is either too offensive or too defensive. As we've seen with Juventus this season and saw with Spalletti who couldn't get the balance right. 442 with two banks of 4 really suit us you can still use our fullbacks to great effect and play a front two of Retegui Kean with Pio Raspadori and eventually Chiesa as an option.

Its being reported that a 4132 is also an idea which is why Cristante is there to be the deep pivot that protects the back line but again this is still a 442 just without the natural width of two wingers.

“A coach must be able to do it all, I have to set my ego aside and do what is best for the team. I don’t really like a three-man defence much, but that doesn’t matter, I will always choose the best system for these players.

so he is open to 3 at the back if that's what is needed.

True and I wouldn’t have selected him myself. He’s one of the guys we just need to move on from

I think so too because even if he does try to lineup with a 442 he will do things to protect the defence and midfield that you need to do when you have two pure strikers and it will become a 352 as default. Eventually he will just set up 3 pure centre backs.

Cristante might be useful to crack some guys on Israel if that game gets out of hand late.

Fully expecting that one to be a physical battle with all the emotions spilling over from last game.

Soule wants to play for Argentina. He is just trying to force his way on the team.

That said, Gattuso should call his bluff

I, for one, am really proud that Gattuso and all of Italy is speaking out on the genocide that those satans are doing. Some things are just more important than football.

On a football note, can someone tell me how Soule is Italian?

I don't know Soule's exact Italian bloodline, but keep in mind almost 65% of Argentina is Italian lol

They (Agent) just got creative and found somebody from Italy. Could be Soule's neighbors second cousin's dog walker for all we know.

Incidentally my padrino was born in Argentina.

Agree with earlier comment. His Agent is just saying it to strong arm Scaloni into calling him.

He is a dual Argentine / Italian that he got through family blood on his mothers side.

similar to Luca Koleosho on the U21s who is Italian through his mom.
