I agree about the healthcare although in much of Western Europe and Italy as opposed to the US anyway, there are many over the counter medicines you can buy without subscriptions which are a lot cheaper.

If you are born and raised in America or Canada however, there are many little things we take for granted that you don’t miss until you leave and come back.

Stores open 7 days a week, and banks are in business 6 is something that just doesn't happen in Italy.

Closing all of August won't even happen in North America.

I also never got used to stores closing at 1 or 2 PM and re-opening at 5 or 5:30 PM or for that matter, closing all day Monday.

That is something that the old timers used to talk about like pre-1980, but I don't ever recall that in California, anyway.

When I lived In Florence and Rome, I loved all the art and history etc and would marvel at the wonders..

On the other hand, there is a saying the old Tuscans used however that went, “you can’t eat or drink art”!

The bottom line is, if you have a job and make a good living, wherever you are, you will be happy.

That is something many young Italians face though as jobs aren’t readily available.

Although it is changing a little, most young people, unlike North America, refuse to work at McD’s or wait on tables if they have degrees or are going to school.

It is a little bit better and different in the North than in the South but even there, young people have a tough time getting established.

I speak proper Italian as my mom’s family is from Abruzzo , east of Rome and dads was from Calabria near Cosenza but I also majored in foreign languages and taught both Spanish and Italian.

After living in Florence, I now have a Tuscan accent.

Many Italians I meet here can’t believe I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Gossipmongers are true of small towns north and south.

In one way, I found it kind of funny , also because I was usually visiting relatives and would leave but I could see how it would weigh on someone’s nerves if I lived it daily.

I was also treated well and people’s faces lit up when I told them I was California as Italians have a fascination with Hollywood or Disneyland.

When I would set them straight that life isn't like we see on TV or in the movies, they thought I was lying and didn't want to believe it.

I usually left it alone because I didn't want to burst their dream bubble.

Jacopo Fazzini's goal from the top right side of the box against Parma, was a beauty!

He is a #10 and hasn't been capped to the senior team yet but I think he needs a bigger squad to grow.

At only 22, I'm betting he will be transferred next season.

great finish. It seems like he's surpassed Baldanzi in the second half of the season. he reminds me of a mix between Baldanzi and Fagioli.

Grifo had an Assist yesterday. A pity couldn't frankenstein Grifo's vision and play-making and Orsolini's flair and finishing into 1 player. Not to say Orsolini doesn't have it in him, that Assist he had to Barella against Ecuador last year was amazing.

You just know Maldini is likely going to get the start.

Is this nepotism or they are trusting Maldini to figure it out? Frustrating.

EDIT: Or he will probably give the spot to Politano. Even if during Napoli winning season 2 years ago Politano only shared duties with Lozano. To me if it's not Orsolini, it has to be Zaccagni.

But you've never explained to me how you like the NHL Flyers and NFL Steelers? Wouldn't it be the respective teams from the same PA city? Joking.

As I live here and see these idiots in person, I don't at all.

Hollywood actors are all fake and pretentious.

Even most people in LA & NY can't stand them.

Also, many people I know worked at Disneyland or DisneyWorld and it is the worst and they treat their employees badly.

They look sweet on the outside but are the complete opposite.

The dream is much better than the reality.

LOL but they have to feel like those people do in the small villages with the gossipmongers. I think it gets to them. I can't imagine living my life with the whole world knowing what I might be up to.

As for Disney, it gets overcrowded. I have no idea how anyone enjoys it.

Yeah, that gossip happened in the USA too among the ethnic communities.

I recall my grandmother on the phone all day with other Italian-Americans in the community trying to find out everyone's business.

Looking back, it was kind of annoying, but you know, now that the elderly are all leaving us. I miss those days.

This is why it is very important for Empoli to stay up and either Lecce or Hellas to go down. Empoli will sell Fazzinni, Mariucci, and then others like Esposito, Columbo will go off loan but they will play another young batch of Italians for next year and someone else will poach them. Emploie also have a great youth setup full of Italians. Meanhwille Lecce and Hellas will use their "scouting system" to find more cheap foreigners who are no better than the best of Serie B and C.

Empoli's win was huge yesterday and they have Monza next week so need that one too. They are level with Lecce now but I beleive Lecce has head to head over them

Esposito should go back to inter to inject some youth into their squad. I really think it’s time

Steelers because I grew up in Western PA. Flyers because I lived in Ontario for a bit as a kid and couldn't stand the local channels never shutting up about the Leafs. Saw the Flyers bloody the Leafs one night and thought it was cool. Plus I loved Pelle Lindbergh.

I think Empoli have a buy option, and Inter has a match that they won't use.

When Seba was real hot in Jan / Feb the rumors were Empoli would buy and then profit but not sure of the market now. He's a dipped a bit but no doubt in my mind he is a talent that would blossom with better more established players ...IF he could get his head on straight.

Pio is the only one with a chance to play at Inter but it might not be next year. The goal is for Spezia to be promoted and then the brothers Esposito (Salvatore and Pio) to get Serie A experience. Pio is going to lead Serie B in scoring at 19 which is nuts. His game is coming along in a huge way and he is probably the best striking prospect for us in a decade or so

Yeah Pio is easily the best young Serie B striker since Immobile at Pescara. Though age wise he is ahead of Immobile as Ciro was 21 when he scored 16 in Serie B and 22 when he had his big 28 goal season a year later.

I think Seba would easily put up double digits if he were on a top 7 squad. I think for players like him and Fazzini it is a little frustrating to play on a team that tends to have so little of the ball. He is certainly an upgrade on Correa.

Good job Napoli at putting Inter right back in the title race, because you know, we all want Inter to win another title.

Jack has been clutch and deserves to be there. Really doubt Maldini makes the cut. I’m 50/50 on Politano

How do we stop sorloth and halland we call up acerbi. He is badly needed particularly with buongiorno out. They are both a huge threat and must be stopped. Norway are.poor defensively and we need to exploit this. We scored 3 with Germany so we should score a few. We can't afford to make mistakes in defense like previous games as we will be punished. It's a huge game we have to win at all costs. Rumours spalletti watching strefezza and zortea and piccoli as he was at como vs cagliari match. My squad for the matches would be if all fit.
Donnarumma, di gregario, carnescchi. Buongiorno, bastoni, acerbi, comuzzo, calafiori, di lorenzo, cambiaso, di Marco, udogie, tonali, barella, frattesi, ricci, casedei, rovella, lucca, kean, retegui, raspadori, chiesa, orsolini. Any thoughts

Not convinced with bellanova, he still has a lot to prove for me would call zappacosta over him.Don't like maldini at all, not good enough and doesn't play for atalanta. Palestra and ruggeri from atalanta could be there in the future. Would like piccoli given a chance at some point as well and baldanzi maybe. Strefezza is a player I like as well might be worth a look. Don't want vicario called anymore. Looking at under 21 championship would like to see camarda there alongside pio esposito would be interesting to see. Would like leoni called up as well he had impressed me at parma this season and playing in under 21 championship would be good. Our under 21 defense is poor at present.

Fazzini is an interesting player who will move.to a bigger team in the summer. Empoli have a few good italian players who will likely move on, hope they stay up and lecce go down as they have none. Pafundi he's no game time at udinese and needs to leave badly ashe needs to play. Berardi is still an option going forward as well in my view.
