Yeh Pellegir got hurt again though whioch is why Columbo came on. I fear that will be the story of pellegri's career although IMO he was overhyped at a very early age but even when fully healthy was probably only an average to mid average striker. Viti was kind of lost forawhile after impressing early on but yes no chance for him under the current Azzurri setup but that does not mean he cannot go to a bigger club. he is still very young. Watching Fiorentina early on but man Comuzzo is just so impressive..many key blocks today. Not sure how he slots in a 3 man defense butwhat a find he was for Fiorentina. Someone now on the radar for me and at a position of need imo is Zanoli for Genoa who has locked down the RWB role and is playing at a high rate. Kid makes things happen and is really fast epecially for a guy of his size. Not a ton of depth at that spot so really it would be between him, Savona (who is probably more of a RCB) and Bellanova during the next cycle. Zanoli and Bellanova are very similar.
Then you have Milan off to get another Englishmam, by way of Lampedusa FC, in the January window. Vile. Doesn't seem like Cambiaso's injury is all too serious. Will likely miss 1 or 2 matches. Richy out of Arsenal's Lineup today. Do think it's gonna be one of these careers where he won't be able to play twice a week. Not ideal to rely on him for a tournament, if I'm being honest. Jorginho started. Even if he is done in Azzurro.
Pellegri is by no means a top striker. But he has the same ceiling as the rest of the lower tier Italian 9s. Pinamonti, Piccoli, Lucca etc. The difference between Pellegri and the rest of the them is that he gets injured every season and hasn’t played with any consistency.
Yeah Comuzzo and De Gea are forming a wall. Fiorentina are simply not letting goals in. Comuzzo is making a case for himself ahead of Scalvini and Gatti.
Next weekend is the World Cup Draw for Qualifiers. Would be pretty cool to see in July 2026 The Donald present Gigio with the World Cup Trophy.
Written that, it could be JD Vance. Because at USA'94 it was VP Al Gore that presented the Cup, not Clinton.
That would be cool too. I think Barron Trump is really into calcio, so his dad may want to present it to Gigio.
Yeah, really no protocol in place how it's done. In 1982, it was King Juan Carlos to present it to Dino Zoff (Head of State, Spain). Whereas in 2006 it wasn't Angela Merkel but rather the late Lennart Johansson who was the President of UEFA at the time. He was already past it and seemed bothered that he was missing his nap time and dished off the Coppa to the nearest Italy player who passed it along in succession as Cannavaro made his way up the podium to stand. Queen Elizabeth in 1966. The Emir of Qatar in 2022. I believe it was Giannu Infantino to Hugo Lloris in 2018 even if Putin was pitch level and amongst the dignitaries.
Have not watched any Tottenham matches this season but I am keeping tabs on Udogie. Nothing special from him from the match reports I've read and hi-lites. They play 4 in the back so maybe like Dimarco this doesn't suit him. Dimarco does have the spot at LWB on lock so it isn't urgent but could be an opening for Matteo Ruggeri.
Ruggeri is maybe more of a like for like swap with Dimarco. Cambiaso can also go to the left if you bring on Bellanova as a sub. Can also put Califiori on the left and bring on Buongiorno for the centre if you want to go more defensive and protect a lead with only one fullback really pushing high. We have a lot of options outside of Udogie but it's nice to have him in the mix for his pace and power.
Pot 2: Ukraine, Turkey, Sweden, Wales, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Norway. Want to avoid Turkey. Such a mixed bag with them. They can be world beaters 1 week then could stumble against a team like Wales. Like Poland and Serbia, a few of their guys play in Italy. Greece looks like a good draw even if their Win England was impressive. Of course, what a great way to exercise some demons if the Azzurri plucked out Sweden (2018 failure) and North Macedonia from Pot 3 (2022 failure). Northern Ireland is in Pot 2 not Pot 4 or could have made up for the 1958 failure all in one go.
Nice job from Camarda. Only a miracle save kept him off the record books again. Di Gregorio was outstanding I agree. So was Gatti. We probably don't appreciate him enough.
Bologna started 1 Italian today. Camarda is a good kid. Juve looked good today, Locatelli had a decent first half, Di Gregorio should be our #2
Got in right at the FT whistle. Was travelling but following along. All 4 Italians on Juve played the full 90 Minutes, including Nicolò Savona. Every year there are a few players to emerge seemingly out of nowhere. Last year it was Calafiori. Not saying Savona or Comuzzo are playing at the level Calafiori was last season but they've been a pleasant surprise. Consider that Savona wasn't even on the U21 team. As expected, Cambiaso sat this one out due to that ankle sprain. Calafiori sat out Arsenal's match.
It's conference league, but I love seeing consistency with Sottil. Fun player, I like him and want him to do well.
Fiorentina 7-0 mamma mia .. Roma take it to Braga .. it's interesting how well Serie A teams are doing in Europe. Milan Inter Juve Atalanta all have a shot at top 8 and 3 teams in Serie A are arguably better than them in Lazio Napoli Fiorentina. Roma struggling in Serie A but competitive in Europe. The league is very string right now it just lakes that one giant tho really outside Liverpool who is there by default I think its all very open. It's like we are back to the 2000s in the pre Messi Ronaldo era.
