Yeah at that time Mancini had the azzurini playing 433 to create uniformity. Now we are seeing the youth sides using more 4321/442 like systems with attacking midfielders and a CF generally.

No, youth teams use a 4-3-1-2 with an "attacking midfielder", a "second striker" and a "first striker" with some exceptions like Bollini who usually uses the 4-3-3, they certainly don't use the 4-4-2 while the 4-3-2-1 can be considered a variation of the 4-3-1-2 if the second striker moves to midfield

Yes that is right. thank you for the correction. when I say 442 I mean the 4312 diamond like formations which is a bit of a throwback but emphasizes Attacking midfielders like Casadei or Fabbian more than wingers like Gnonto who is basically a man alone at this point at youth level.

Even Palladino's 4231 is closer to a 442 in the sense that he is using midfielders in the wide positions. Speaking Bove who has interpreted this role brilliantly. Terrible news about him let's hope he can still have a career for his own sake.

I suppose even if it weren't regulated, his doctors would give the same advice.

What a turn of events for Bove. Damn it.

What next? Ligue 1? Best bet for me anyways would be a mid table La Liga team. He hadn't even established himself yet. Hopefully Mou's endorsement and full trust in him last season puts him in good graces when his Agent shops him around.

January likely too soon to get himself back on the pitch and with a club. Needs to aim for signing early in the off-season, early, and start next season fresh.

Does this also spell the ending of his national team aspirations?

No idea if it extends to the FIGC and the senior team. But Eriksen still plays for Denmark internationally.

Obviously falvo if he joins a good club abroad and performs well then he will be in the mix. Just like any other eligible player.

Can probably rule out next summers Euro U21. Only way he gets on that team is he needs to recover from this, join a good club abroad in January and play significant Minutes. Because at Fiorentina he was playing 3/4 of Minutes in a team that is currently top 4. What a shame.

Of course, the league could amend their rules to allow players with implantable cardioverter-defibrillator's to play.

Historically, Italian players playing abroad tend to lose their national team spot.

Eriksen may still be on his national team, but Denmark cannot be compared to Italy.

Let's just hope Bove can regain fitness and play again because a heart ailment is nothing to mess with.

Being abroad in a good league won't harm his chances.

Depending on whether it's a big team or not.

If he is on a lesser team in the EPL, La Liga , Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga, he may very well get overlooked.

Even though Eriksen is on Manchester City now, it took him 8 months to come back after his incident when he played for Brentford.

Oh man, what a setback this is for the young man. By all accounts a good person as well. DDR saying last year he was the type of boy you would want your daughter to marry, seems to get along with everybody, notably Joya Dybala when they played together.

If Erikson missed some 8 months before getting back on the pitch, then I we can rule out a return in January, which isn't a bad thing as many of these January moves aren't impactful and they are usually with teams that need help.

This next move will have to be a smart one. A team will be getting a useful player if they overlook this heart issue. As far as I see it, need to sign early when the market re-opens and avoid what a team like Roma did this past off-season and make all their signings late. Also, Juve with Koopmeiners. Bove needs to start Training Camp in mid-to-late July with his new team. Leaving it to last week in August will set him back integrating him.

Dimarco is one of four defenders with 10+ goals and 10+ assists in the last three seasons in the top 5 leagues. Minus Roma and Juve, some have been against some quality opposition.

    • Milan
    • Napoli
    • Juventus
    • Roma
    • Atletico Madrid
    • Barcelona
    • France

Sebastiano Esposito with 2 in 20 minutes for Empoli vs Hellas. I've said it before but the sr. Esposito needs to repopulate Italy with sons.

At least it's good to see Como, Venezia, Verona, Leece all struggling in the relegation zone. I thought stacking your team with foreigners was the only way to be successful in serie a?

Lecce and Verona MUST go down this year. They are the worst in the league IMO. At least Venezia and Como have a few that regularly play. Verona needs to scrap their vast 'scouting network' and focus on Italy like they used to do.

Empoli isnt up to their usual standards as far as sheer numbers but their key guys offensively are italian. They also sold a bunch of young Italians over the years.

Taking a chance on Esposito was good business ...thrown in Fazzini (injured) and Columbo, rejuvenating Grassi (also injured) They also recently unearthed three young guys who played in the copa and all of them performed well. Guaranteed they will play more now.

Yes I have been impressed especially by Viti though at LCB it will be very difficult to ever get an Azzurri call up. He's someone Juve should maybe look at. Heck even Pietro Pellegri has been ok for them even if he's still not scoring goals.

I booted up Pes 2020 the other day and while yes it's a video game it's remarkable how few promising young italians existed. 2025 is truly an interlay different reality. I won't say it's a golden generation but it is healthy.
