I know Riccardo Calafiori didn't play for Arsenal yesterday and I’m aware he is injured.

I don't watch the EPL but does anyone know how long he will be out?

France squad announced and Mbappe is missing. TBH they’re a better team without him at this point

Roma would take the legend seedorf and diminish him to a timid, defensive shell of himself. that club is the biggest joke in italy.

Damn, I was so wrong. Savona, Comuzzo, Rovella are in? IMO, too many at once. Well, not once but if we include the September and October newbies. Need to build some fluidity with the same group, as I suggested not too long ago. Bringing players in for 1 Cap to be dropped (like Brecianini) cannot be good. Pellegrini out, not shocked. Loca still out.

GK: OK, Meret back in. Di Gregorio out.

DEF: Why is Gabbia out? Especially with Richy's injury. Gatti returns.

    MID: Bellanova out? What for?

ATT: Lucca off. Don't like it.

EDIT: Fagioli out for Rovella. Not a wrong decision. Fagioli is better than Rovella but too damn inconsistent.

    Wow very interesting choices here.

    - Comuzzo rewarded for his good play. Little surprised but not really. I would have liked for Del Prato to be considered but that’s ok. I’m a little surprised with Savona however. I appreciate that he is starting and has the confidence of Motta but the performances have been both hot and cold in my opinion. Still our right footed options are scarce, anyone can be considered at this point. Goes without saying that both Calafiori and Gabbia are out with injury.

    - In the midfield there’s so much to say. Fagioli replaced by Rovella due to overall poor performances. He’s one of my biggest disappointments this year and good for Spalletti who is not going to wait for him to get his shit together. Rovella has been improving under Baroni as the season has progressed. Then I can only hope Pellegrini was dropped because of his play and not some other injury reason. So good for Spalletti there too. The biggest omission here is Bove who is playing good enough to be considered. Spalletti likes Pisilli who cooled off somewhat. Nice to see Barella back finally.

I don’t know if Nations league requires limited roster spaces but he he could have included Lucca. Very useful striker to have especially if you need a goal late.

The message is clear; regardless of age, play good and you’re in. Play bad and you’re out .

    Gabbia is injured indeed!

I am not surprised Fagioli is not there! He doesn’t play well enough! The other reason is that he is not a defensive midfielder like Ricci. A subject we talked about again recently! Rovella is a young player who plays in front of the defence! I like his call up!

As far as Lucca is concerned, it’s obvious that Spalletti prefers Retegui and Kean for the striker position. He doesn’t rate Lucca much. The real 3rd option for the striker position is Scammacca who is injured. And he hasn’t convinced Spaleletti either in the past.

Does anyone know why Bellanova is out?

I didn`t think so at first but it turns out in Article 27.01 there is a 23 Player, 3 of which must be GK`s.

I agree with everyone it would benefit greatly to have Lucca on the team even if he would use him sparingly or not at all.

Really liking what Spalletti is doing post euros, introducing the likes of Pisilli, Maldini, Savona, Lucca Etc

Only real head scratcher for me is Locatelli, there’s obviously more to it but he’s worthy and should be included in the

Hopefully soon we see Bove and Baldanzi, I’m sure we will

well done Comuzzo! the midfield is really stacked when we consider Fagioli and Locatelli are still on the outside. Rovella deserves this he's a good alternative for Ricci. He reminds me of a young De Rossi in many ways.

Raspadori seems to be holding onto his place for dear life. Savona over Belanova is interesting. We haven't seen Savona as a wing back but he has been good going forward. Very impressed with Spalletti keeping the squad competitive and based on form.

Comuzzo deserves it. He's just been outstanding. He is a rarity in Italian calcio. Why? He's a physical specimen at 19. 6'1 and built like a tank. Our players tend to gain muscle later in most cases. Comuzzo has enough now to be able to be very physical. He's shut down a lot of good strikers this year so far.

Yes, this is what I observed as well. Recently I went back and looked at Juve's formation everytime he made an appearance it was NOT with a wingback formation. So I'm puzzled by this callup.

As well, maybe at first I misinterpreted his selection in another respect.

So the Right sided Defenders here will be Di Lorenzo and with Gatti as a substitute.

Right sided wingbacks will be Cambiaso and I guess it has to be Savona. Here I was thinking Savona was backup to Di Lorenzo, completely forgetting that Gatti was also called.

Andiamo Camarda! We have so many good/great positional players. A top 5 CM a top 5 wingback a top 5 keeper but regardless of position we don't have a SUPERSTAR and have not really had the true prospect of one since Cassano/Balotelli and we know both of them never reached their ceiling.

So really we have to go back to Pirlo/Totti when looking at a truly generational italian. Again with respect to the fact that Donnarumma Bastoni Chielini Barella have been among the best in their positions for their respective era.

Let's hope! There is a world where he is playing at the 2026 world cup.

If he's playing well, certainly. Spalletti won't hesitate to pick him if he think he's one of the 2 best CFs available. Refreshing atttitude toward the youngsters, as @Gino22 said yesterday.

Yeah I suppose Di Lorenzo could also play wing back but yes Savona as a wingbackmwill be interesting. He has impressed offensively. I think Belanova is seen as limited technically he has the pace and power but his dribbling and crossing are wanting. Not to write him off by any means.
Let's see how Gasp develops him. He has tried him on the opposite wing I suppose to make his right foot more dangerous cutting in?

Bellanova hasn't been great, this season. Moved after the start of the season, Zappacosta is good and experienced in Gasperini's system, Bellanova hasn't been excelling, so far.

He's still in the mix, though. His speed and ability to create separation from a standstill and deliver a dangerous cross (in theory, it's a dangerous cross) are valuable skills that others don't really display.

Not worried about him being left home. If he picks it up, he'll be back.
