Pisilli should've taken the advantage instead of bailing out for the foul. Italy had a sliver of hope to get a shot out of that possession. Wasted it letting Belgium set up defensively off a free-kick at 40 yards out.
2-2. At least we got a point. I’m still burning over that red card. We should have gone on to win this game 4-0
FT Game thrown away. Should have been a hammering with little effort spent. France get 3 Points and the Group is wide open.
There are worse points, like the Northern Ireland point. This one is ok, still valuable. We take care of business Monday against Israel, we'll still be sitting pretty good. Although I am thinking of top 2 to avoid the really dumb relegation playoff.
Wasnt watching but when I seen flash scores and the red I just knew. To be cruising and then he does that. This in on top off every time he gets subbed off for Roma, the subbed on player has scored minutes later. Years ago it was obvious this guy problem. He grew up soft and his lack of caring stems from it. He was always going to be comfortable whether he made it in football or not. He would have been left crying in a dressing room 20 years ago, a total poof.
Arrrgggh. This is what annoys me. Shit like this needs to be cut out when Qualifiers start. 55 Minutes at a numerical disadvantage is too long. Written that, maybe Spalletti should have changed things and closed it up. Even with 10 Italy must not concede 2.
@roverman They look miserable without foreign teammates and coaches. Thought rice was " shocking " one of the most overrated soccer players ever
This point is ok, annoying, but ok. But it requires Nazionale to do what we expect of them and defeat Israel in Udine. We get three points Monday, any result in the France Belgium game helps. My goal though is to avoid the idiotic relegation playoff. So that is the basis of my "ok". But three points Monday, as long as the players and Spal face this game head on to learn, we are ok.
Absolutely stupid red card. Pellegrini was bad at the Euros, but he seems to have taken his stink up a notch with his play for Roma and gli Azzurri to start this season. I'm not sure how he got a callup. Spalletti has done some good things with the team, but insisting on Lorenzo is dumb.
Agreed, for me it is ok to finish 2nd if we avoid the unnecessary relegation playoff. The inclusion of that is a joke
Both France and Belgium still have another match against Israel as well. To me it's Win at Home, Draw Away against the 2 bigs and that's more than enough. I don't want 2nd. Want to grab 1st for Rankings to get a top seed for the WCQ Draw.
I still don't get why play Pellegrini as a seconda punta at all? He's not that. Jack plays that quite well for Italia. Spalletti is a lot lot better with the midfield he's built but the Pellegrini and Di Lorenzo choices are odd. Di Lorenzo seems to be good for giving up one goal a game. He was very late covering the far post on that corner that led to the goal. Although to be frank, our defensive organization there was terrible. Too many guys near post. Details like that have to be cleaned up.
If you think how bad Dimarco and Di Lorenzo had been in recent memory. They costed us and also put us in very bad situations in game multiple times over but yet they still start, no way this will be Pellegrini's last game. The only man that can bench him is Chiesa imo.
3511 really really works..... especially with this group where Di Marco and Cambiaso are virtually wingers and Califiori and the like build from the back like regista's. when we attack it's basically a front 4. obviously the red card changed the game but we are nearly there with this group. if a Baldanzi Maldini Brescianini can replace Pellegrini as the 10 or another wild card maybe even a Chiesa then we are pretty strong front to back. Retegui in a 3511 is everything you want in a number 9 and I am confident in Scamacca Lucca Kean as being an option off the bench. This should actually push Scamacca to fight for is place with both Atalanta and Gli Azzurri. I imagine it will be these two and you maybe even have the option of playing them together in a more standard 352. Very promising all things considered of course the defending left something to be desired on set pieces but that is something that will come with time.
Without the Red they would have cruised to a comfortable Win and had the luxury to bring on the likes of Gabbia, Maldini, Okoli and got their debuts out of the way and also conserved energy for others. To that point, Lucca likely plays considerable Minutes given he will he most fresh of the CF's and the match is being played in Udine. Chiesa, Zaccagni, Brecianini, Jack, Kean or any other player they play off the shoulder of the CF don't make that foolish tackle. Zaniolo probably would. Lucio's comment when it happened said it all when he turned to the bench and asked "cosa fatto?". Obviously wasn't meant to hurt the Belgian but in an area of the pitch that there is no danger, absolutely no need for it. Need to walk back my earlier comment. The Belgian goals were scored on dead balls so it wasn't a formation issue while down to 10. Italy didn't undue all the good from the September window but it does feel like a letdown to me.
