It means nothing. Genoa hasn't won anything in 100 years and Samp were Runners-up in the Coppa Italia in 2008–09. Who wins anything in the Serie A other than Inter , Milan and Juventus anyway? Napoli won last year on a fluke but they haven't won since 1990. Lazio and Roma haven't won since 2000-2001. It was a miracle that Atalanta won the UEFA-Europa League last season. If history proves itself and in Italy, it usually does, I'm betting Sampdoria will come back stronger than Genoa. I'm not saying Samp are a big club but they are bigger than Genoa and again, maybe not now or in 5 years’ time but they will be back stronger. I strongly believe this.
Lecce needs to be eradicated from Serie A and forced to start over in the Eccellenza for crimes against Italian player development. The reasons I am giving Udinese and Torino a pass? Simply, I enjoy seeing Lucca get meaning full minutes and guess what...actually develop. That's a concept. Same for Torino, consistent minutes to Ricci over last seasons have made him available and developed for Spal to understand he is a regista. @indestructible I now see exactly what you meant about Juric. He plays Ricci in a flat three, not even as the holder. While still good, he is not in his best position for club. credit to Spal for seeing his attributes and playing him where he should play.
Looks like Canada is going to cap or try capping Kolesho. He hasn't represented Italy once in 2024 and has flip flopping between the States, Canada and Italy at youth levels. I'm count the kid out.
Udinese ahead of Monza and Fiorentina, let alone at the top of the table, is not what I was hoping for in the constant battle for Serie A's soul.
Todays best Italians according the pagelle’s Del Prato, Cancellieri Lucca Provedel, Lazzarri, Romagnoli, Zaccagni Montipo
It’s true that Udinese probably won’t maintain this form, but they have been playing much better under this new coach. The president made a conscious decision that he wanted to see the team stop playing this defensive 3-5-2 that was the norm for years under guys like Sottil and Cioffi and so far, so good. Guys like Thauvin have been playing excellent. I think Pafundi has a much better chance of breaking into the first team next year if they stay on this course. Lucca has also been playing very good. He only has two goals, but he is making himself more dangerous. For me he is already senior team ready as a late sub. Perfect target man
Lucca looked good yesterday, and I even showed an ability to stretch the defense with runs to free up passes over the defenders.
Locatelli and Cambiaso looking very good in the CL ...personally Im loving the new league format. Feels like Italian teams and players are part of the best league in the world again. For Italian football it's only a good thing.
Lucca and Scamacca as twin towers in a 352 would be fascinating even for a half just to see it. It would be a handful to deal with them in the centre with our wingbacks crossing balls in.
It's gimmicky, but Netherlands almost beat Argentina in the last WC by putting big mf'ers in and launching balls into the box. It's a worthwhile back-up plan when all else fails.
Lucca deserves a call-up, soon. Retegui is having a really nice year, so far, but other than that every other able-bodied CF is worth trying out.
Has nothing to do with the thread, but Milan are unwatchable. They were more charming during the banter era
Your broke ass club can't afford no euro soccer. De la's direct to dvd movies aren't selling anymore. You can download them for free
I found interesting that commentator mentioned Calabria as only Italian but how many English players did liverpool use.
What good is having money if you don’t know how to spend it. He might as well take his cash, put it in a top hat and light in on fire.
