Yeah, I first saw Retegui's work rate and Defensive work in the Venezuela Friendly that was played in Florida. It really is next level dedication to a phase of the game that not all #9's do. Snapping at heals, causing turnovers, winning Fouls. Just brought a tear to my eye. Imagine that Italy scored 3 goals from Open Play, he didn't score any of them, but he was rated as the 3rd highest Italy player on the day. Only Tonali and Ricci higher. Scamacca, don't know about him. He really should be the one that takes the mantle given his physique and how can absolutely tattoo a football when he gets a hold of it (pun intended), scores bangers. Talk about looks being deceiving. He doesn't shit-talk out there, don't use his physicality. Complete opposite of Retegui that engages in that stuff.
Italy's starting XI for today: ---------------------Kean ------------------Raspadori Dimarco-Tonali-Ricci-Frattesi-Bellanova --------Bastoni-Buongiorno-Gatti --------------Donnarumma
Now might not the time to discuss Scamacca but really quickly, he definitely has a place in our future. He is our best playmaking forward and the only one capable of scoring from literally any part of the pitch.
I'll never understand the Scamacca hate especially when the whole team was crap when he was playing. Happy not to see Di Lo in the lineup.
Im still a big believer in Scamacca there was little he could do in that set up at the Euros with the way the midfield was playong so poorly behind him. He is a top class finsiher and has proven with Atalanta that he can excel leading a 3511. I did not want to see Retegui again after the euros but again that shape killed a player like him and we can see with Atalanta and now Italy how good he can really be. They could really be 2 good options.
for a country that has conflicts with Arabs... they sure have a lot of them on their national soccer team.
No they are not. Next window for Italy is against this same Israeli team in Udine after they play in Rome against Belgio.
Oh ******** off. Get with it already. Idiots got their tires pumped up with how good they looked against France now this crap.
he has that Inzaghi like magic for goals in the box he is such a weapon in this shape. new king of Rome?
Belanova is not a good choice against a weaker side that sits back his touch and passing is really poor. His only attribute really is his pace which could be useful counterattacking. He is a nice tactical option to have but I really can't see him ever being a starter for the Azzurri or a top side on Europe. Otherwise some nice things. Di Marco is a constant threat as a wingback. Bastoni Buongiorno switching play and Ricci picking out long balls has been nice to see. I think Raspadori needs to be braver and turn and create space instead of always playing back to goal.
