He kinda always was though, no? Musso was their Cup GK'er. The same GK ex Udinese, if that's what I'm thinking. Least it removes all doubt now.

Alex Meret likely out with Italy as well. Should have moved on from him earlier but #3's don't play anyways so no biggie.

Di Gregorio will draw in. Which he should have done so earlier.

Yes but they split the cups. Carnesecchi could have been the keeper who won them the Europa league. Now he doesn’t have to split the games.

Also I’m not convinced that Musso is such a big upgrade on Meret

On the Argentina board there is talk of Taty Castellanos being approached to get Italian citizenship to play for Italy.

    Embarrassing at this point.

I understand Scamacca's injury. Not ideal. But there is Lucca, Raspadori, Kean, even. Italy can make do without yet another embarrassment.

I’m scanning the news websites, I don’t see this anywhere. Possibly fake news

I hate stealing players from Argentina. We should steal from France, their next door. you think those 'french' players really care about playing on France. I didn't see one of those players cry when they lost in the world cup and euros.

Soulè shouldn't play for Italy nor should laws be circumvented where he has an Italian passport -- I've been consistent on this topic.

Fermin Lopez dominated that tournament (most goals, most assists). 21 years old. Scored 11 goals for Barcelona in his debut season.

Spain (senior-level) is only going to get better, as is Barcelona.

What's Italy's trajectory? Hard to tell, at the moment.

Well, I love Argentina, and I love Italy (due to Maradona and Baggio initially). And I like to speak in facts. Both Messi and Maradona have Italian blood. That’s a fact.

You can make what you want of it - but it’s a fact that they have Italian blood.

If Chiesa ends up at Man United... Italy needs to find some new forwards, quickly. No way Chiesa plays regularly with the hometown kid Rashford at LW and Ten Hag's buddy Antony at right wing.

This will not benefit Chiesa, and since Chiesa is the only forward who actually plays well for the NT these days, it's even worse for th NT.

Chiesa will play cup matches. Sub appearances he gets at least 30 games

Antony stinks. Chiesa would take his lunch money but they paid 80M for that stiff and have to justify it. Antony has vowed to turn it around this coming season but remains to be seen.

    ManU not ideal, however.

A bit of food for thought: Don Hutchison from ESPN (an avid Serie A watcher/supporter, so he's not just some English hater thumbing his nose at Italy) said someone on the coaching staff (if not Spalletti) was asked about the possibility of moving Chiesa to an attacking-mid/10 role, due to his injuries. And, the prevailing sentiment from the coaching staff is that Chiesa doesn't have the composure, or brain, or patience, to play in that type of role. In other words: He thrives running at people, the less thinking he does, the better.

Regardless of how you feel about Hutchison, I think it's an interesting thing to consider as Chiesa gets older. Should Italy transition him to a different type of role.

Separately, if Chiesa moves central, and Berardi ages out, does Italy even need to consider a front-3, anymore? Isn't this just another reason to shape the team 3-5-2, or 3-4-1-2 (or 3-4-2-1)*?

    Thoughts?

*Or some formation of the past, like 4-4-2 or 4-3-2-1

As much as I'd like Gnonto and Casadei to be the answers to Italy's problems, neither of them has been playing in a top flight, regularly. Still, I'd rather see them out there in September, since the games don't matter. Let's see how they look.

Or, maybe you were joking. At this point, I'm open to any new(er) blood.

I don’t disagree with Hutchinson. Chiesa is an attacking winger who thrives in a front 3. I think he still has much to give if he can land on a team that plays a style that suits and with a manager that gives him the confidence.

I've seen that segment with Don Hutchinson.

What he heard is correct -- Chiesa doesn't have those characteristics.

Hutchinson is ridiculed for liking Serie A by those morons on ESPN. Even Robbo likes Italian football.
