So we are officially ranked 10th now after the Fifa rankings update... we should be able to avoid a tough team in qualifying no? I know last time the Swiss were enough to screw us up but I have to imagine we will get a favourable group.

Perhaps the Nations League will be important for this as qualifying does not begin until spring 2025.

I think he will be there even as a sub he is just a superb finisher. He will be 18 by then and even if he has only a handful of matches for Milan say in the 2025/2026 season I can't see him not going.

Zeroli also looks to be quality. Hopefully Milan can find some minutes for some of their next gen team. They have a lot of talent on the books.

Why play promising Italian youngsters when clubs like Udinese have made an offer to bring back 35 YO Alexis Sanchez?

    RE: Rankings

Have not changed from last month. Truthfully I believe 10th spot is generous. The no-show and general malaise against Switzerland has sapped me of any enthusiasm for this coming cycle. Say nothing of Spalletti. I just hope they don't have a false sense of security seeing it expand to 48 spots. Only 3 additional for UEFA. These extra spots are for other Confederations.

Moussa Diaby off to Saudi Arabia at age 25 to get paid.

With Zaniolo also having left, I expect Chiesa to Aston Villa rumors to start up again.

"Giovanni Galeone, a close friend of Massimiliano Allegri, has revealed where the latter wishes to resume his coaching career.

According to Galeone, Allegri does not want to work in Saudi Arabia or England; he dreams of managing the Italian National Team"

    ‐‐---------
Should Italy be Relegated in the UNL and there is disharmony within the team, I can see Allegri taking over.

Galeone (che è la groupie di Allegri) aveva detto che Allegri era stato cercato dal Real Madrid, ma Allegri aveva rifiutato :ROFLMAO:, secondo voi è una fonte attendibile?

Galeone (who is Allegri's groupie) had said that Allegri had been sought by Real Madrid, but Allegri had refused :ROFLMAO:, do you think he is a reliable source?

Lots of Allegri chatter lately, what would an Allegri Italy starting lineup look like?

    Formation would definitely be 3-5-2.

Given the personnel Italy have it would just so happen to be the best formation.

Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal all but official.

    1) Want to see how he gets on without the tutelage of Thiago Motta. The Juve fan in me hopes he's a bust so he makes overtures to us to come get him. The Italy fan in me wants him to be a success.

    2) Where Mikel Arteta plays him likely dictates where he plays for Italy. As of now I get the feeling it will be LB and Jacob Kiwior on the way out.

So where Italy are concerned, does Calafiori go ahead of Dimarco on the depth chart? For September I can see him play CB for Italy as the season will just be underway. October and November UNL matches TBD.

    3) Basel took Bologna to the cleaners. 50% of that sale for not doing anything.

    As for Chiesa

    - Tottenham have matched the Salary demand of what Chiesa currently earns. IMO, a smart move on their part as Juve may want to cash in on him and reboot with another player so now need to give more money in Salary.

    - If Juve don't cash him out and he see's his contact expire, latest word is that Beppe Marotta will bring him to Inter on a free next summer (Marotta was the one that brought him to Juve).

    - Nothing new on the Aston Villa approach (2 weeks ago).

    - Bayern Munich report originated out of Italy. FCB are stacked with quality wingers. This would be a bad career choice.

Another benefit to playing in Tottenham, which you alluded to earlier this week, is he's playing with Udogie. Italy would greatly benefit from Udogie and Chiesa developing chemistry and finding success together. Both left-sided players. Udogie will be overlapping with him, based on how Postecoglu likes to play.

I wouldn't be against Chiesa going to Bayern, altogether, but Bayern definitely comes with a lot of pressure and that front-office and their media arms don't hesitate to trash players. The last thing we need is Chiesa in the Bayern doghouse, and then firmly entrenched on the bench.

I hope Italy doesn't submit to Arsenal's choices and let that to dictate where/how he plays for Italy.

For example, if the choice is between playing either Udogie or Calafiori at LB, I'd prefer Calafiori moves to centerback, so we can get both of those dynamic guys on the pitch. Find a way to play the best players, and in that example, you're not putting Calafiori out of position. That's one of his positions.

I'm assuming Udogie continues his trajectory, likewise for Calafiori.

    Clarification to earlier message

Tottenham have matched what Chiesa earns now with Juve. They have not met what he is asking in this next contract.

Liberali playing with the senior squad preseason is impressive especially since he didnt even start for Primavera last season. I was surprissed he didnt make the Italy U19 team, so it will be interesting to see if he can make the Milan Futuro team or not.

Milan have some of the most exciting Italian youth prospects on the rise. Camarda, Zeroli, Liberali, both those attacking side backs, and the U17 Euro best goalie.
