One of the ugliest football games I have ever seen, 10 minutes of stoppage time were added to the 2nd half. TEN MINUTES. But thats not why I'm posting, Senegal lost 1-0 by the way.

But during one of the many scrums during the game Diouf punched a Tunisian in the face after being pushed. His temper was again at a high and he was explosive all game at Tunisian players. I'm not sure how FIFA will deal with it, can something like that in international competition cause a ban for his play with Liverpool? What have been similar punishments for punches. However this game was so ugly and chippy FIFA may choose to sweep it under the rug....

Any ban would only carry over to international games. Think of when the Portugese players (Xavier was one of them) got sent off for their actions towards the ref in Euro 2000, but they still played for their clubs.

Quote from a different thread on the game...

A lot has been thrown back and forth on this game so far. I just igured it'd be fair to throw out a counterpoint, because a lot of people were bashing the Senegalese behaviour. I just thought I'd throw some alternative thoughts out there.

The man restraining Diouf looks like a cross between Milan Baros and Mikael Silvestre.

This is really discerning...obviously this match went a bit crazy, but this is another example of Diouf absolutely losing control over his temper. Defending yourself is one thing, but it seems to me that he took things WAY too far and probably deserves more than a three match ban. He face has the expression of a pro wrestler in the picture. Whose to say this isn't going to happen in a heated match against Everton or Man U??
