I live in New York and read the New York Times. Sunday is the day when most new yorkers buy the times and read about the weeks events. I was surprised to find absolutely no coverage of the MLS opening game or preview of the season. There was a minor report in the email version they picked up off of the associated press giving the score of the game. I know , I'm used to non coverage but this is ri-goddamn-diculous.
I want to use these boards to post guilty newspaper editors who refuse to cover MLS. If we can start an effort to show that we give a damn they are sure to notice.
If anyone is interested this is the place to send letters to the sports editor of the NY Times.

    Letters to the Editor

Letters for publication should be no longer than 150 words, must refer to an article that has appeared within the last seven days, and must include the writer's address and phone numbers. No attachments, please.

Send a letter to the editor by e-mailing letters@nytimes.com or faxing (212)556-3622.

You may also send your letter to:

You think thats bad. I couldn't even find the score in the Baltimore Sun and yet college lacrosse gets a two page spread.

Here in Daytona Beach I looked at Sunday's Newspaper and there was nothing in there about Saturday's game. It had the score in the statistics section. The attitude of this countries media toward soccer sucks. No wonder MLS struggles, I mean some rednecks would like soccer here if they knew more about it. Everything else gets coverage, even high school soccer, but MLS is treated like a turd of S#it.
    There are NO excuses anymore!

I live in San Diego and we get coverage every weekend of MLS. That's strange since we don't even have a team :)

    a favor please!

    courier-news in bridgewater, n.j.

i have a chance to be a columnist and talk about MLS and international leagues and games...

problem is this inky dinky paper which has potential is headed by soccer-biased homeboys...
that doesn't stop me from coming in with my jerseys and screaming goal when there's a great game i have to catch on the internet...

it's at c-n.com and you can email sports dept...
pick a town to say where you're from from the area and bash these guys...they do not, DO NOT, ever report anything on soccer.
they said the only possibility for me to do soccer is to write about fat, 40-year old soccer players in the local leagues here...

the area's got some heavy readership for its size, man. but no soccer. told their asses they're missing out on a huge, untapped market.

(by the way, since ManU will be training at Rutgers Univ., which is nearby, i'm trying my hardest to see if i can get a press pass to do some sort of feature out in that bitch.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Borracho I contacted your paper and haven't heard anything in return yet. I'll send them another angry e-mail and threaten to drop my membership even though I don't have one if I don't hear back soon.

I think the collective should also include ESPN in this drive for coverage. I KNOW they are showing a lot of games as a tentacle of ABC but to see highlights on Sportscenter is, or at least has been, almost unheard of and The Mag is also guilty of neglect. I have written them a number of times over the last few years, and I will continue out of sheer stubburness. A drop in the bucket is just a drop, we as fans need to turn on the hose. Write everyone and DEMAND the coverage.
