Goal by Armas, Ralph takes a weak shot that Armas puts power onto and gets it past a diving, bearded Brown.

    Mapp, beautiful run past Leonard.

    Armas, motm

Chris Armas being interviewed by Jim Rose for Channel 7 News (ABC) in Chicago.

Justin Mapp is so very very impressive on the dribble. Blew by his marker, took it to the line and then crossed back to Ralph who scuffed his shot but Armas pounced as it rolled toward goal.

I suppose I'm biased, but this sure seems like a fair result. New England had some nice counterattack chances, but Chicago carried most of the play. New England cleared off the line twice.

Section 8 is RAWKING with the team

Once again, Whitfield, to Mapp, who makes the run to the end around Leonard, bringing Adin Brown to the near post. Mapp crosses to Ralph at the top of the 6, who one times it and Chris picks up the garbage at the 2-3 yard mark to power it home past Adin Brown who can't get there in time.

Fire, undefeated in Cup play this year, no goals scored against in post season.

    Love it.

Oh and besides the goal, Chris Armas played the best game of his life. Completely shut down New England's offense.

Not only that, but he contributed more the the offense than I have ever seen. The one thing I can say about this year's Fire is that they are a complete team. Ante is back on defense, Marsch is taking shots on goal, it is a team working well together to get it done, which I never saw under Bob.

I want to say it once more because it bears repeating: Armas wanted this game more than any other player on the field, maybe in the world! This might very well be the best game of his life. Unreal!

To say that the Fire is a complete team doesn't explain what this team is. They played as hard as any team I have ever watched. An absolutely unreal game. My heart is just now returning to my chest.

I haven't seen the game (now that I know the score, I don't really want to, either) :( However, I knew that this was going to be a close game, and I was fairly confident in an OT game - maybe even PK's. I'm almost compelled to ask the essential "What if?"s about TnT and all our other injuries, but I'm not gonna try to make excuses for this game - you guys outplayed our guys tonight. Congrats on a fine performance.

As I said in a post somewhere in Rivalries, I feel that this should've been the MLS Cup Final (no disrespect to SJ or KC). This was a good match between two of the best teams in the league. But, oh well, once again, maybe next year.... [curls up in fetal position, nurses a bottle of scotch, and cries self to sleep].

    Good luck in the Cup.

I think this says it all.

Armas, all the time, all over. He impressed his will on all the men in Red.

    Freaking awesome game.

Thanks Peter Wilt and Dave Sarachan.

This is why I love The McCrum. Even though I was at the stadium, I said this exact same thing at this exact same time.

Then I closed my eyes and prayed. I think I may owe God a cookie or something.
