The coaching sucks, but so do the skills. The Brazilians are superior in tactics and individual skill. We may be about to see a long drought in women's championships until we get coaches who encourage skill and who know how to teach a short passing game.
I think Eric Wynalda (of all people) mentioned something about that a few weeks ago in his YC/RC segment.
I freakin hate this Christiane. First the dive in the box, then she want's the second yellow for Boxx although she knew very well that it was her alone who fell and then she celebrates when Boxx was sent off as if she had just scored the winner. Even though I felt sympathetic for Brazil before the game, I just hope they'll get what they deserve.
No, it didn't -- it wasn't even a foul. But she should have gotten her second yellow that previous time she took down Christiane. So it was overdue.
What the hell was that? Cristiane was running BEHIND Boxx, tripped and stumbled into her. Second yellow card... Unless something happened before that, like Boxx pulling her shirt to get ahead. But it looked like the worst referee call ever.
No way in hell was that previous foul a yellow, either. You're either delusional, trolling, or or both.
I wish I could say this is one of those games where Brazil looks like the better team and has really deserved and earned the result.
USA coming back didn't look unlikely until the red card, you have a team of winners and Brazil had stopped attacking. Not now though.
We've kind of been asleep for the last few years. Just like England when they refused to be a part of FIFA in the 20s and 30s, we've ignored the signs that we are no longer superior. Other teams have outplayed us, but we've been blinded by the results. It's only a matter of time until several more teams consistently beat us, unless we implement major organizational changes.
The difference in individual skill and team play is more like USMNT v. Brazil MNT! The USWNT looks lost.
Did you see christian give the pump fist even though she knew it wasnt legit. I know they are competive but thats straight poor sportsmanship.
whoah prety dirty play by Cristiane There were some true Cristiano Ronaldo moments wonder if it`s part of the name still Brazil has been better in almost all categories and deserves to lead
Boxx red. When I first saw it, I thought she turned in the path of the Brazilian to obstruct her and then the Brazilian clpped her heel. I'd like to see it again at real speed.
On the bright side, this is now all set-up for one of those typically American heroic movie-comeback moments. (Except it's not a movie)
She took down a Christiane flying past her and heading towards the penalty area with no attempt at playing the ball. Yes, that's yellow.
The way I see it that been the modus operandi of the US Women the entire tournament. No surprises as to the poor tactics.
Ryan has installed some really ugly football in our team. The only reason he's been successful is because he inherited skilled players from the previous managers. Whoever that was that called him Sampson earlier is spot on. Have a feeling we're going the route of Norway or China for a few years. Haven't been convinced with our play this whole tournament, and his decision to play Scurry - just silly.
