Menos mal que gano River. Banfield no mas sabe meter goles de pelota parada i no saber jugar buen futbol.
A mi me gusta ver a Banfield jugar.
Well it seems that Atl. Panaraense is the luckiest team ever in Copa Libertadores history (aside from that Independiente team that barely beat Universitario in 1972 in the final because la "U" starters were away playing for Peru NT), beating Santos, who were without a couple of important players and now chivas who will also be without some important players. Looks like it will be an all brazilian final with Sao Paulo taking it all.
Yes, but dont forget Sao Paulo also lost 3 key players: Grafite (injured), Cicinho (Confed Cup) and Diego Tardelli (U20). With this 3, I would be much more confident. But I think we still have good chances to take the cup.
Those of you who know River Plate well - WHAT weaknesses exactly do they have - some have said their defense has attention lapses? They've got Gallardo and Mascherano, national team caliber players; in fact, Mascherano was a headache for BRAZIL last week. I believe my SPFC can reach the final, but it'll all hinge on how well they do at Morumbi. Both teams will have significant fan contingents at the away matches - and oddly Nunez and Morumba are very similar in structure.

ALL THE WAY (NOT all the buey......I wanted to make that clear in this sensitive world of love and peace)
Honestly... I think RIGHT NOW the most important player for River has to be Lucho Gonzales. His regularity is amazing... he is always one of the highest points in the team and serves multiple purposes in the field. However, when Gallarado is on... he is unstopable. When both of them are playing good, River can beat anybody. They make the rest of the team play. Macherano and Dominguez are by nature more defensive but they will gladly add their talent to offensive mode when the team is going forward. With such a strong midfield, by comparison, the defense and offense seem a little flaky. Tecla Farias is on another level, but Salas is not 100%, Jose Sand has wasted many chaces to become the next great attacker and la Gata Fernandez doesn't get the continuity I would like him to have. River has a great team... but like I said (and seeing how the game against Bafield developed) they have to improve plenty in order to overcome Sao Paulo. They can't just give up possession of the ball for 15 minutes like they did against Balfield... if they do that against Sao Paulo, or any Brazilian team for that matter, is just too risky.
Also, I didn't know Sao Paulo was missing so many important players.. it seems that all the sporting events happening right now have affected in a negative way what could've been a more spectacular ending for this tournament. Santos, Chivas... now Sao Paulo. Truly sad.
Yeah, I guess that sux.. but I heard that they got a new Foward for the Copa Libertadores named Amoroso. We'll see how good/bad he does on Wednesday (hopefully he sucks and makes 20 own/auto-goals ). Vamo' River Plate!!!!!!!
Well River has weaknesses in defense. The problem is that both outside defenders (volantes) go up and attack. Those two players are Federico Dominguez and Carlos Diogo. They attack, so if there is a counter-attack, those two sides might be open, and it will take them time to go back to defend. But, you still most be careful. Their attacks don't always turn into counter-attacks.. they can be very costly for the oppent team, since sometimes the ball ends up inside the goal. About good players, I believe lots of people are underestimating River in these boards. River counts with many good players such as Mascherano, Luis Gonzalez, Gallardo, Farias, Montenegro.... and even Zapata, which I don't like very much, had a great game vs. Banfield. Many people also are saying that River played bad against Banfield, and that is most certainly not true. They played an extremely good first half, that could have put River up by a huge difference. Sure, I admit, in moments of the second half we suffered. But that's how you win the Copa Libertadores. The way River won the game on Thursday is the way any team needs to win to win this cup. Well, I'm done writing for now... If you got any more question about River, you know who to ask. . Now tell me something about Sao Paolo.. Weaknesses?? Strenghts?? Key Players?? Thanks - Gonzalo
Gonzalo, sorry I didn't answer you till now. THough the first match is over, the one thing that can cripple Sao Paulo is if they get nervous. As well, we don't really have ONE standout player. Though we have experienced strikers like Luizao and Amoroso and a great goalkeeper in Rogerio Ceni, we do not have anyone who is a highlight such as Salas or Mascherano. My condolences that your team's bus was pelted with stones. Totally unacceptable, disgusting behavior by some idiotic fans. Good luck next week.
It's gonna be an uphill task for River ... not scoring away will haunt them. Amoroso looked dangerous with space ... will certainly be a headache at Bs As. .
Vip, Leaving your bias as a Boca Juniors fan aside, what are the odds River can come back? Seems like you watched the match. How would you qualify Sao Paulo's chances to hold the edge at Nunez?
It will be tuff for River ... I watched Sao Paulo against Tigres at Tigres, and Sao Paulo defended well and missed way to many chances in counters. With the new format of away goals ... it will be difficult for River ... any mistake on a counter and they would need 4. Both LDU and Banfield scored twice at River ... But ... River has scored many goals too playing at home. They will go all out for this game, as expected. .
That's the key. I'm against the away goals format, places an undue burden on the home squad. 2-0 is a very good score for SPFC; though anything can happen in the return leg. Tonights game was as good as any CL game I saw this year. Hopefully the return leg equals or betters it.
I watched the Sao Paulo against Tigres, and the brazilians were impressive, I think they'll beat River by at least two goals
