It's fun for a neutral but a lot of it has been simple and obvious errors from Spain's back line, so unless Spain uses all 15min of stoppage to even the score up, I don't think it'll rate too high overall
This would be the greatest comeback ever. I wish could call a penalty like that those dudes in the Geico commercial. Lol
I know this. I’ve watched her and Brazil choke over the years. If you can’t score when it is needed, you don’t deserve anything…
Just absolute comedy from our defense today. And then there is our goalkeeper. I mean yeah, our coach is pretty poor but this performance is about the players and mistakes that a U12 shouldn't make. Anyway, congrats Brazil.
Not a chance that will happen. While it is getting better, women's football in Spain is out of sight, out of mind. So unless there is something that will embarrass the federation then no change will happen regardless of how the team is performing.
Well, stop hating. Brazil did score 4 goals today. Or 3 and an own goal. Brazil now has defeated the hosts and the WC title holders. There is merit in that. Do you just hate Brazil? Why? I will tell you what: they now have secured another silver medal, their third. Which Ghana never did. You won a bronze with the men's team; that's it (by the way, Brazil does have a gold medal from the men's team).
Is it really hard to win the World Cup and then the following Olympics? Or is it a scientific law that it cannot be done. The evidence so far supports either conclusion.
The sample size is just too small to reach any conclusion. I believe it is only difficult because the number of matches that have to be nearly perfect to win either is relatively large and the chances of not failing even once in a knockout match in two successive tournaments is also small no matter how good a team is. I think the fact that no team has won a WWC followed by an Olympic win has just been possible for the last 7 or 8 tournaments or so and that means that "never" means very little. The invention of that stat is just to give the commentators something to jabber on about. It also really does not matter. What about the other way around? That is has anyone won a WWC after winning the previous Olympics.
It's quite hard, it's not at all the same tournament. Then again, I didn't think Spain deserved to win the World Cup last year.
I think it works both ways: Win the World cup --> Don't win the Olympics; Win the Olympics --> Don't win the World Cup. I researched it once but am not sure I remember correctly. In any event, however, if the US wins against Brazil, I like what we are seeing in relation to the 2027 World Cup. The group is young and are just beginning under Hayes. A win in these Olympics would be an unanticipated bonus.
