Just tame public relations stuff. They should promote the Argentina game with stuff like avenging the US loss to Arg in basketball. Get them in "their" sport sort of stuff. The ussf just doesn't know how to get attention or publicity.

I'm happy. Much better than nothing. Apparently the 5 players injured the week before Canada are better now.

Interesting issue with the #8 shirt. Had no idea that was even going on.

It's weird to see the phrase "Metrostars Defender Eddie Pope."...

Unfortunately, I've gotten used to seeing the phrase "recovering from an injury" with Eddie Pope.

Yeah, it's a shame that Eddie is only available for little old tourneys like the World Cup and not these massive winter friendlies.

Yes, well, he missed a bunch of qualifiers and a ton of MLS games.

FWIW, Pope played in 9 of 16 WC quals, all as a starter - 7 players played in more quals, 3 players also played in 9, and 27 played in fewer.

I guess that puts him somewhere ahead of John O'Brien.

Shame. Both are awesome players and guaranteed starters when healthy.

Add in all five world cup games, and it is clear that Eddie's 14 of 21 record is not worthy of the comment above.

Which comment above do you mean? I wasn't trying to imply anything about Eddie's record or worth or whatnot - just posting the numbers about his WC quals appearances since people were discussing that topic w/o the numbers. Make of them whatever you like - as FWIW, usually means. ;)

    More painful than weird.

Of course, once he surpassed the required total minutes injured stat, he was destined to join the Metro's.

    Pope?

Any updates on Pope and whether he's likely to see any time this weekend?

I'd rather we just play the younger guys this game to give them the experience, but anyway, any word?
