Just soliciting opinions on Select soccer balls. Never used them myself but the Royale is our league's choice for HS playoffs and some of the other league teams use the 10 or League Extra models. I know that the WUSA uses them too. I'm more of an Adidas fan myself and would prefer the Tournoi or Stade but want to give these a chance if they're any good. Anyone have any experience with them?
ya my high school team 2 years ago switched from the brine phantoms to select balls, the selects are much better
My team has been using Numero 10's for match balls for three seasons now. Our boys like 'em pretty well. We previously used League Extra, which seem to last a little longer, but don't have as nice a touch. I like them better than adidas.
As a person involved in retail sales, I've had experience with most of the major manufacturer's balls. While I'm an adidas man, the Select line of balls is probably the best buy for the dollar. Excellent durability, pretty good touch. As with ANY ball, the more money you spend, the better ball you get.
Select Balls I was never much of a Select ball person myself until a few years ago, now I have my entire team purchase the same ball a Select(forgot which one) and we use the Royale as our game ball. I think they hold thier shape very well and just feel good for longer than most others.
I owned a Select ball back in high school and it was great ball. Cost about $70 but had a soft surface and was very light. I don't remember the model but one of the top of the line balls. I now have the Brine Vittoria Blue which is nice but I think I should have purchased the Royal. I also have an Adidas "Samba" ball. It is lime green and the special of the day at Sports Authority. $25 and I like it better than the Brine.
I bought youth team balls with my own money this year. I called select and got samples of the Numero 10, Royale, and the ball below the Brilliant. All were good. The Royales offered the best price/performance ratio. I bought 12 and they let me keep my samples. I liked them so much, I've moved the college team to them. The Royales have held perfect shape after my U17s beat on them all year. And we do 20 minutes of 1v1 and 30 minutes of shooting per practice. I'm very impressed with them.
