Trobbiani was hammered in this forum after the 6-1 defeat at Germanys sub 21 team while ours is a sub 19 preparing for the Sudamericano in Enero.Throw in the loss of any players playing in primera such as Lanzini,Ocampos,Centurion,Zuculini,Ferreira Dybala etc and we can see the problem here was the organizor not the team or management.
Anyway when the arrived in Alcudia to play teams of their own age group they performed much better defeating Saudi arabia 3-2,Japan2-0 and losing 0-1 to Spain to reach the semi final v Turkey.
Today they defeated the Turks 2-1 to reach the final where once agin they will face the host nation winners over Corea.

That team was missing like 3 players from Argentinos Juniors(for example Gaspar Iñiguez) and a bunch of others, I guess they're testing alternatives. Let's see if they can beat Spain this time around in the final of the tour.

I am reading that Icardi is scoring goals for us. Anybody watching these games? Any players with promise? I see some notable names, so I am wondering how these pibes are.

Unfortunately there isnt any stream available for that tournament... that sucks.
It looks like Alan Ruiz (from Gimnasia de la Plata) is the most promising player from the bunch and Icardi seems to perform well.
Two things about Ruiz, he was already from the last sub-20... The one which had a solid defense.
The other is the kid could have been a River Plate player last year when we lost the category but Almeyda refused his transfer.

Seems like our pibes won this. They got the revenge on the gallegos from earlier play.

Yes we won the final over Spain 2-0 with goles from Alan Ruiz and Lucas Rodriguez.Ruiz was player of the tournament and Icardi goleador. An excellent win considering what they had to face in Germany and the reality that not too many will be starters in the Sudamericana but beating the Spanish on their own soil wont do these pibes any harm

Some of Spain's u20 players will have been rested or are on club duty. Nonetheless very satisfying performance.

Hopefully Icardi will explode this season. He has real ability. The problem in the past has been maintaining his mentality and his attitude. No player can suceed without those.

Is this tournament a true tournament with quality players from all over or just a put together kick around with out any weight? Bc if its the latter its the equicvalent of NOTHING and a WASTE OF TIME celebrating anything!

Olé managed to find some video of the game. Not much but still a little.

And to answer your question Cosmos, I really can't say, lol. As stated before I think these are players who may be apart of the Sudamericano Sub-20's. Lets not forget we are hosting, so can't look stupid at home. It should be a talented side, Lanzini, Dybala,Ocampos,Ruiz,Icardi,Iñíguez should all be apart of the team.So those that played should have a little bit of confidence going in, and those who were not permitted to go, will add to what we had in this mini tourney. I still believe our last side U20 side at the WC(A team who I grew to really love) could of pushed through. Coco not being fully fit, and giving away the game in PK's was a bad way to go out.

Lets hope Trobbiani has something to give to these kids.

I heard the same thing about Maurito but lets hope his attitude has changed. There was another kid from Argentina in Barcelona's youth ranks his name is Maxi Rolón, any updates on him? I believe he was from Rosario as well.

    Found a video of em.

Rolon is now 17 years and 8 months old.

He was slated to play for the Juvenil B side of Barca but had registration issues so was loaned to another Catalan youth team. Nonetheless he played very well and scored a goal in every two games not a bad return for a right winger.

He has very good technique albeit moderate pace and came back to the Juvenil B side scoring a vital goal and winning penalty in a shoot out to see Barca to the Youth Cup final over there.

Apparently he will be in Juvenil A this season. However given the depth Barca have for the right wing berth his future lies in all honesty away from the Nou Camp. But you never know. At this age some players make enormous leaps. He has a sound technique and a good nature too.

Messi on learning about another Rosarian being at Barca took him around the city and acts as a mentor (not a bad one to have) and when Rolon had an appendectomy sent him a signed shirt.

Hopefully if he does progress then the youth section heads at the AFA will bring him into the fold.

The timing of the 2013 championship may be a problem for some players. Icardi might be an important member of the Sampdoria team for instance. Hopefully they will all be available so that we can field the best side and make a bid for once again claiming the u20 World crown.
