Pretty impressive performance so far, especially considering this is almost a Portugal B team. This team is missing... Nuno Tavares (Benfica) Pedro Alvaro (Benfica) Romario Baro (Porto) Tiago Dantas (Porto) Rafael Camacho (Sporting) Pedro Neto (Lazio) Marcos Paulo ( Fluminense) Umaro Embalo ( Benfica)
I think since 2015 we have really owned these knuckle draggers at all levels. Something like 1 loss in 10 or 11. Have to look it up but it's been dominating.
Came here to post this. Fabio Veira and Felix Correia were good today, but factor in these guys and we would stand a great chance of being repeat winners. Also, Dantas plays for Benfica
Thanks, my mistake. I just saw Dantas play for Benfica, yesterday. Also, Joao Ferreira, 18 year old RB started for Benfica's first team yesterday and looked decent, could have made this team also.
Not impressed at all considering it was only Italy. Italy is pretty irrelevant in todays game and i doubt they will ever win another major title again. If you are ever bored, go to their board on this forum and read their delusions about how they still think they are elite. Always good for a laugh. The true test will come against Armenia and Spain, so hopefully we win those as well.
I personally would avoid reading anything in their forum if you're squeamish. Almost all sub forums read like a bunch of Xenophobic old men around a table talking the good old days. Armenia will be easy, the real test is Spain. Yes though, Italy is about as relevant in world football today as Slovakia.
1-1 now but I missed the goal - oops. Biai just made a ridiculous save. Spain played a through ball that Biai slid to snuff out near the edge of the penalty area. The ball bounced toward the endline corner of the area and the Spain player stayed with it. Instead of retreating to the goal, Biai chased the opponent/ball way out of goal. The Spain guy got to it and lofted a cross that a teammate got his head to. The ball was heading into the empty net when Biai came out of nowhere to bat away just beyond the far post. He then chased it down and kept it in play with his feet. It was ridiculous and then amazing.
I caught a replay of that one later on. I really like what I've seen from Vieira and Correia. And Celton Biai is intriguing. He doesn't look very tall, but he moves around great and has an impressive leg.
So barring a bed shitting, as long as they pump in a few goals vs Armenia we should win the group unless Italy concedes even more bs Spain than Armenia does against us. Avoiding France in the semi’s should see us into the final as well, but I’m not counting any unhatched eggs just yet.
