Alisson left the Liverpool match injured today. I watched the play and he made a 1 on 1 save against Osimhen after his defense gave the ball away. The injury wasn't on the save but he had to reposition himself because of the giveaway so maybe he twisted something or pulled something. Hopefully it's not serious and he'll be in the call-up tomorrow. Considering how "em cima da hora" this is, he might be on the list regardless, it probably depends on whether it requires an exam (in which case it would probably be more serious anyways). Would be something if we get, say, Bento, Hugo Souza and one more as the 3 keepers... might see Ederson or Weverton called in just due to experience. EDIT: Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt is giving up 5 goals to Atletico Madrid, so I was worried about checking Kauã Santos' rating... he has the highest rating on the team (8.1) and is apparently averting an even worse disaster with 7 saves, 6 in the box and 1.36xG prevented... maybe he does deserve a look even at 22!
Last-minute article from globo indicates Alisson, Alex, Marquinhos, Andrey and Raphinha will not be available due to injury. Militão will be available. Also indicates Coutinho was not on the pre-list, though it doesn't share any names from that list. https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...inha-e-com-volta-de-vini-para-amistosos.ghtml
Convocação: Bento, Ederson, Hugo Souza Vanderson, Wesley Éder Militão, Fabricio Bruno, Gabriel, Beraldo Caio Henrique, Carlos Augusto, Douglas Santos André, Bruno Guimarães, Casemiro, João Gomes, Joelinton, Lucas Paquetá Estêvão, Martinelli, Igor Jesus, Luiz Henrique, Matheus Cunha, Richarlison, Rodrygo, Vini Jr. Comments: I'm starting to worry about our goalkeeping situation. Funny how quickly things can change. Disapointed not to see Bremer in there with 2 defenders out. EDIT: Looks like Bremer is injured and doubtful to recover in time. Cruzeiro fans won't be happy that Fabricio Bruno is the only non-GK player called up from Brazil, when they have the clássico with Atlético-MG. The two Wolverhampton mids are back, so they get to be tested. Glad to see 3 left-backs and none of them are Alex Sandro. I would have liked to see more mids, as usual, and could have done with giving Richarlison a break this time, for someone else.
Vanderson got injured in Monaco's CL match (in progress). Hopefully it's just a muscle injury, but he had to be helped off the field. Hopefully it's not a ligament issue.
Vanderson is out for 6 weeks with a hamstring injury, according to French press. That would mean he probably misses November too. Gabriel also left injured, but according to Arsenal it was precautionary and he should be available this weekend.
Senegal and Tunisia are the teams Brazil is scheduling friendlies with in November: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...senegal-e-tunisia-em-novembro-na-europa.ghtml As noted before, these cannot be confirmed until Senegal and Tunisia are officially qualified, which depends on their final group matches during this international break.
Vitinho replaces Vanderson, just as he did in September: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...-e-convocado-por-ancelotti-para-selecao.ghtml
Ederson is out due to an injury in training. John (former Botafogo keeper) replaces him: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/futebo...e-cortado-da-selecao-e-john-e-convocado.ghtml
Ancelotti and the comissão técnica are in Seoul already. https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...o-sul-selecao-so-fica-completa-na-terca.ghtml At the time of this post it's 5:15am in Seoul. Bento is the first player to arrive. Most should be there throughout Monday, with players who were in action today only arriving on Tuesday and training on Wednesday (the match is Friday night there).
Wesley was subbed in the Roma match today. He had a very solid match apparently, and I didn't see any injury note on his substitution, but apparently he was injured. Paulo Henrique replaces him: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...-contra-coreia-e-japao-wesley-e-cortado.ghtml
At the time I'm posting this (11pm Eastern) it's 12pm in Seoul. Some of the players are starting to show up: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...esenta-a-selecao-em-seul-para-amistosos.ghtml
More players available but no sign of a starting 11: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...sem-indicios-de-escalacao-para-amistoso.ghtml Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton were on a plane that had to turn around and return to Amsterdam due to a broken window and are scrambling to get to Seoul: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...imaraes-e-joelinton-a-selecao-na-coreia.ghtml
Joelinton the last one to arrive after the airplane issue delayed him and Bruno. Because Bruno is expected to start on Friday, they made an effort to get him back quicker, whereas Joelinton just took the next available flight and missed Wednesday training: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...ta-para-amistosos-contra-coreia-e-japao.ghtml The match is on Friday, 8pm local time, which is 7am Eastern.
Today's training was the only opportunity Ancelotti had with all players available: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...completo-para-enfrentar-a-coreia-do-sul.ghtml Starting line-up: Bento; Vitinho, Militão, Gabriel, Douglas Santos; Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães; Estêvão, Matheus Cunha, Vini Jr., Rodrygo So a 4-2-4 again, which is probably ok against South Korea, but will be interesting to see what he uses against Japan.
Senegal won their match today, but so did their only remaining rivals in second place (DR Congo). We have to wait until Tuesday to see if the match can be confirmed. Senegal play at home to one of the worst teams in the group. Any win means they're available to play us in November.
The highlights I saw of Brazil today showed them playing with impressive speed and fluidity, and as much as I like it when Brazil wins in convincing fashion, Korea is not the strongest team out there. They've come far over the past several years and since they hosted the 2002 World Cup, but I am sobered by the fact Brazil under Tite beat them 3-0 in 2019 (and this during a temporary funk for the national team under Tite, as Brazil went winless for five straight matches, including a loss to Peru and draws with Senegal and Colombia - this is exactly 6 years ago) and 4-1 in at the last World Cup - and we didn't reach the ultimate prize. Some news reports said Korea gave Brazil too much space - and I don't expect the Japanese to do the same. Japan drew Mexico and lost to the U.S. in September, and they barely survived today against Paraguay, escaping with a 2-2 after getting an equalizer in stoppage time. Paraguay may not be the world's best team, but they got a lot better under Alfaro, and we only beat them 1-0 in WCQ after Ancelotti arrived. The Japanese want to lift their morale and they'd love to do so by beating Brazil for the first time at the senior international level. A victory over Japan would certainly be good news, but as @Ombak said, Senegal would be the toughest opponent for Ancelotti's Brazil yet.
This is not official, but ever since the convocoção more people have been sharing the info that Brazil will probably face France in March. The other match is currently likely to be Netherlands or Croatia. I imagine it will be announced after the World Cup draw, maybe later. The three teams named currently lead their groups and are likely to qualify in November and be available in March. EDIT: Portugal also in the conversation. They are also currently in first in their group and likely to qualify.
The team had Saturday off. Sunday they trained in Seoul and then left for Japan where they will train once on Monday, before the match on Tuesday. The match is at 6:30am Eastern on Tuesday morning. Hugo Souza was the only change to the line-up in training this Sunday. https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...e-de-ancelotti-em-ultimo-treino-em-seul.ghtml According to the article, even though Estêvão trained, he had some flu symptoms and will be evaluated Monday. If he can't play, Paquetá will start. With the time difference, it's already Monday in Japan as I post this and the team arrived some time ago: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...ugo-e-novidade-em-ultimo-treino-em-seul.ghtml
