Not at all. I've written about Abel's limitations here many times in the club threads.

Fabrizio Romano is repeating what most Brazilian reporters are saying now:

It's all a bit pathetic really, after the failure of Neymar's two parças and the reports that it was over, now reporters are saying CBF is trying to be more discreet and avoid leaks, and are willing to wait for Ancelotti cause the door isn't fully closed.

Having said that, as far as we know it's still those associates of Neymar who are in Spain, why Ednaldo and Rodrigo Caetano are not the ones negotiatintg is just bizarre (and probably tells us something).

Reports in Spain now saying Ancelotti agreed to Brazil now. Looks like Neymar's team were able to convince Carlo.

JUST IN: Brazil have now agreed to all of Ancelotti's demands and have decided to let him take his time before signing the contract. He will join Brazil when La Liga ends.

    @diarioas

So why did he say no thanks before if he is still joining after La Liga and not CWC? Pretty sure Madrid did NOT want him managing CWC and are looking to close his chapter at the club as soon as possible.

Neymar and his family being involved reeks of desperation to avoid having JJ be given the job at all costs and Neymar's desperation to finally win a world cup. In reality, he probably won't even be healthy for the Cup and we'll be bounced out of R16.

This is sounds like a true sh^t show and this is not leadership.
If everything I'm reading is true, I can't believe that Neymar and his "team" are so selfish. Everything should be done for the team and personal preferences should fall to the wayside.

Ednaldo at risk of being removed from his post because of a fake signature from Coronel Nunes that kept Ednaldo in his post. Not even getting into the details here. I can just imagine the political battle going behind the scenes.

At this rate we'll have another reported agreement with Ancelotti, only for Ednaldo to be removed again, Ancelotti to sign with someone else and, worst of all, Ednaldo once again reinstated by Gilmar Mendes only to have to pick a plan B, C or D coach...

When you thing things can't get worse... with organizations like CBF they always can.

CBF has dragged Brazil's NT reputation into the dirt. It is true the team itself has failed to produce good results, but this is a direct consequence of poor planning and decisions in the aftermath of the last World Cup.

Ancelotti is a world-class manager, but not even he is going to turn Brazil around overnight. Recall, when Tite took over in 2016, he did so starting from the 7th round. Should Ancelotti actually take the job, he'll be doing so from the 15th round. Brazil did get some points under Dorival and it's unlikely Brazil won't make it to 2026 thanks to the new format. But getting the team to play substantially better? I'll be very glad if it happens, but I'm very skeptical that it's feasible, at least right away.

There hasn't been much news recently. On the one hand, it seems the next milestone for any Ancelotti news would be the clásico, since Marca reports he will announce his departure after that.

On the other hand, there is potentially a lot going on at CBF, with the suits being filed to try to remove the President, after reports that one of the signatures to keep him in office was forged.

UOL has at least been keeping up with things, so here's the latest:

While there's an obvious conflict of interest for Gilmar Mendes, this decision at least doesn't seem to be a problem. He basically sent the suit to the Rio courts, where everything originally happened and told them to investigate the forgery. So the suit hasn't been dismissed or anything, it was just removed from the STF's docket for now while the original court deals with the new claim.

As for Ancelotti, there are reports in Brazil that he will sign, notably from Alicia Klein now (who is also with UOL), but who knows, at this point. She also reported that Ancelotti's lawyers are looking into what risks he could incur if Ednaldo is removed from CBF.

So we could have Ancelotti reported as signing, and then reported as pulling out again, if the sources say he decided against it.

As ever, it's basically wait and see, because there is yet to be a reliable source for the outcome of the story.

    In other news.....
What of Antony at Real Betis? The man is having a world class year! I thought that he was lost forever in the void or at least he had disappeared himself and his career. Does he merit a call-up for Brazil? At the very least he deserves a look for his (left foot) free kick abilities.

Just goes to show how important the right environment is. An agent's jib is picking the right fit for the player as much as it is making sure they get paid.

For the national team it wouldn't surprise me to see his name on the list. He'd still be a backup right winger in my estimation though and I'd prefer to play with 2 up front not 3 and not 3 + 1.

If there's one thing I hope carries over from Dorival's last call-ups it's the selection of Vanderson and Wesley for right-back. I think that's a solid pair, with potential to have strong seasons ahead of WC2026 and as a bonus they'll be relevant after that too (Vanderson will turn 25 during WC 26 and Wesley will only be 22).

So here's a nice little article with Vanderson while ge waits to see what kind of list we get next week (yes, the preliminary list is due to FIFA next week!!!)

With the result of El Clasico today, the Carlo announcement should be coming soon.

    A few observations:

    - Raphinha with 2 goals. He again really made the most of the space given. That's how he thrives. Against Inter, who denied Barca space in the final 3rd, he was pretty quiet (even if he had 2 goals and 1 assist over both legs).

    - Vini had 2 assists but had a pretty bad game. He has had a pretty bad 2nd half of the season and that's pretty concerning. Not sure if the Balon d'Or thing got too much into his head. Not that he has ever played well for us.

    - Rodrygo was on the bench the whole match and didn't sub in. Not sure he is gonna keep his space next season .

Rodrygo supposedly was still dealing with a fever, but I don't think it matters, I agree with you and everyone seems to be thinking the same thing, he is the one who might move.

Where to though? Arsenal if they are truly ambitious. Man City if he suits their plans (maybe I'm biased due to FM, since every time I play he seems to go to Man City). Can't see him going to another league, even PSG, considering how collective they are, but financially they'd be the only ones I'd see swooping in outside of England.

I still think Vini +1 is the best way to attack for our national team (with Raphinha behind them at this time). That would mean Rodrygo on the bench (and I don't want to even think of Neymar being there). Inter has shown that a 2 man forward line can beat offside traps and can work today. Of course they also play 3-5-2, so it's not all the same (unless we suddenly go 3-5-2).

Looking forward to the news this week... we'll see if any of it pans out.

I heard about the fever ... but I also heard post-match that he trained regularly with the team in the past few days. Even if he wasn't 100%, he was included on the bench in case the team was chasing a score in the 2nd half. Madrid did need a goal and he wasn't used. Some youth kid was subbed in. A bit strange IMO.

It's official. CBF has announced Carlo Ancelotti.

Earlier today David Ornstein broke the news on the Athletic that he had signed. Now globo has confirmed after CBF released this statement:

    https://www.instagram.com/p/DJjnSUTNb-l/

    https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...-e-o-novo-tecnico-da-selecao-brasileira.ghtml

According to reports he starts the Monday after La Liga ends, that is, May 26.

The pre-convocação happens before this, and it usually isn't announced anyways (though it was last time).

Well, who would have thought. In the end, it did finally happen.

I'm encouraged, but I'm relieved; this novela of who would take the job was exhausting, and frankly, quite embarrassing.

Hopefully Ancelotti will renovate the team with new ideas. Someone who won as many Champions' League titles, not to mention league and cups in Italy, Spain, England, France, and Germany is probably well-positioned to make Brazil a better team.

Now, however, I will say this. If Brazil's performance improves drastically in a short period of time and if friendlies before the 2026 World Cup witness a much better and more competitive Brazil, then my expectations will be the semifinal round at least. But perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself.

A bit of trivia, by the way.

When Brazil ended the 24-year drought in Pasadena back in 1994, a young assistant manager helped Italy manager Arrigo Sacchi console a devastated and desolate Roberto Baggio, who sat on the field while Dunga, Bebeto, Zinho, Cafu, Branco, Aldair, Mauro Silva, Viola, Mazinho, Márcio Santos, Taffarel, Romário, Jorginho, a teenage Ronaldo Luís Nazário, Parreira, Zagallo, and the rest of our team's delegation celebrated the Tetra.

    Yes - Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti shouldn't wait until the end of the season to start scouting for players. While he will rely on players playing abroad, he should also count on looking for domestic players.

As a starter, he should watch the first league match available which is today is ... Santos x Ceara. Get to work Carlo !!! :ROFLMAO:

I am guessing that Carlo will involve Brazilian players he played with and coached in the past to guide him. Some candidates are Falcão, Cafu, Kaka.

We know his son won't be part of his staff, so I wonder who he might bring in his place. And I agree with you, even if informally he will be relying on some of those connections.

Of course, all we have so far is the announcement by CBF (and the Ornstein report). Still a lot of details to be revealed (will he live in Rio? the reports I shared above talked about a budget for renting an apartment in Rio).
