Not sure what point you're trying to make. But an opinion isn't wrong nor any worse just because it's not shared by the majority. I form my opinion based on what I see. I honestly couldn't care less about following the herd. Doesn't mean I can't be wrong. Neymar has 3 weeks to keep improving physically. And I hope he does. Ancelotti seems to believe in it and that's what matters because he is the one paid to make the decisions. I won't be one of the sour people cheering against just to be right. He is on the team, so he has my support like all other players.
Most seem to believe that he will be on the bench at least at the start of the competition. Even Ricardinho (TNT) who is a big fan believes that's how it should be. The question is if Neymar thinks that way as well if it comes down to him being in a bench role. I just doubt he wants to go to his last WC to be mostly watching from the bench. We will find out some more in the couple of friendlies before the WC.
I hope NOT! The whole set up would be slowed down by Neymar. I hope Ney is on the team for decoration purposes only. On the other hand, I'm glad my three favorite players Endrick, Rayan and Luiz Henrique are in.
With Neymar's history of injuries before or during major tournaments he'll probably get injured soon (hopefully before the World Cup starts) and then a replacement will be called up. In such a case, I would call up another midfielder.
Reportedly he won't play again before the apresentação and will just rest and treat the calf injury from this past weekend. I do wonder how many minutes he'll get against Panamá and Egypt. As for the lineup above, not only is it ridiculous to start Neymar, it takes Raphinha out of his current best position, isolates Endrick as a lone centerforward where he does not work well, and isolates Vini on the wing, when we need him to partner with someone inside.
I think Cunha, Raphinha, and Vini are the core trio up front and will start. Depending on the opposition, an attacker (Endrick, Igor Thiago) (for low-block/defensive teams) or a midfielder (Danilo, Paqueta) will be added. Neymar, Rayan, Martinelli are impact subs (unless Ney starts outperforming everyone in training).
Again, I hope Ney is on the team for decoration. I really don't know what Neymar can do to help in any line-up especially in the round of 32 possible matchup against Japan or The Netherlands. I'm glad my three current favorite Brazil players are on the team: Namely Luiz Henrique, Endrick and Rayan. I really believe that given the opportunity any and all three have the chance of being the star of the tournament.
Some reports saying that there was a call few days ago between CBF and Neymar saying if he was to be called he'd have to accept the role Carlo gives him and follow the rules off the field as all other players. No family and friends sneaking in access by booking rooms in the same hotel as it was in 2018 for example.
Oh hell Sure you know. The point I’m making is that every person that comes on this platform, this thread, especially the gringo, will believe that all of Brazil despises Neymar, and nothing can be further from the truth. Having said that, I do believe that Neymar will not start, but he will play, and I sure hope that he scores decisive goals making people on this platform look “ridiculous”.
I don’t believe these reports. Watch the video. Does this look like Neymar knew before hand he was going to be called up ? https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYhZZQSil77/?igsh=MWM0dDVsMDdxZzFweQ==
We come over here to share our own ideas and opinions. Not to put on some facade for foreign lurkers. We are not PR for Neymar or anyone else. This is really out of left field Ivo. I am at a loss why this bothers you. Except for the fact you've mentioned you've met Neymar and his family which makes it a more personal issue than anything. Also this is an extremely low traffic forum. It has less than a handful of frequent posters and at most double that of gringo lurkers. I am glad you recognize Neymar might have to come from the bench. Which means you recognize his form hasn't been good specially since his latest surgery. Because there are a lot of people who don't seem to be watching his games and are asking for him to start regardless of form and beleive he will solve everything. I want nothing more than Neymar to prove me wrong and for you to come here and rub it in our faces. Because what I want the most is to win the title. The things I mostly worried about his inclusion are obviously his physical shape / form, how he will fit in Carlo's scheme and how it affects other players, and obviously the attention and comments it will attract if he comes from the bench.
The report doesn't mention they told him he'd be called up. It says they contacted him just to see how he would react if those were the "terms" if he was included. Obviously it could be fake.
Starters up front from what I can tell are going to be Raphinha on the left, Vini on the inside with Cunha and LH on the right. The attack will be built around Vini. If Neymar comes in, it's in Vini's spot. Vini goes to the left, Raphinha to the right where he is less impactful (actually bad IMO). Cunha stays up front but tracks back. But at this point, I would like Endrick up front because he is more likely to combine with Neymar better IMO. But that's gonna obviously overload Casemiro and BG (or Danilo). This could be more of a 2nd half setup. If Raphinha goes to the right, I might prefer benching him and playing LH there.
Whatever Carlo's plans are, I think he played the Neymar issue as well as one could. Never guaranteed him a spot but didn't close the door. And didn't say his intention was to build the team around him (like Dorival did). It set the tone for when and if Neymar was included in the team. I just hope players like Vini and Raphinha don't hide behind Neymar in terms of responsibility believing he is the guy that's gonna lead them. They are the main players that are supposed to lead the attack the ones who need to deliver. I think Endrick doesn't have that issue because for better or worse, that kid seems to have a big belief in himself and seems to like the responsibility.
I think Estevao and Rodygo injuries made Neymar a easy choice for Ancelotti but I also believe if Vini and co was able to carry Brazil even half as good as prime Neymar did, Neymar probably does not go.
It is hard to imagine him getting in if Rodrygo and Estêvão were fit, but that also makes the March window complicated for Endrick and Igot Thiago so who knows how it would play out. And as a more general point in the thread, I think most people can tell from my posts but there is only one thing I care about and that's Brazil winning. I have my opinions on what gives us the best chances but now that the team is selected my opinions are about how they should use the 26 players. I may not see how he can contribute but that doesn't matter, especially if we win regardless of whether he contributes to the win or not.
I think it was specifically Rodrygo who most can resemble Neymar's role. If Estevao was in, my guess is Rayan wouldn't have been included.
we are entering the post-competitive era of international world football. looking at how unconfortable Ancelotti seemed just before he announced Neymar, contradicting his stance that only 100% fit players would get called. Plus his contract being extended 4 years a month prior to the world Cup which is totally unheard of. It's pretty apparent that a deal was made behind the scenes as he was under commercial and institutional pressure to include the Neymar brand in the tournament. And CR7 and Messi getting called at 41 and 39 getting called up too. It's all a desperate cash grab now, having the most competitive squads doesn't matter, host continent rotation doesn't matter. Let's go back to the middle east asap and get more of those petrodollars, even if we have to have bangladesih fans disguised as brazilian and argentine fans again. But look at the bright side , we'll see the American Samoa squad doing the Haka dance before they play Montserrat in 2034 as Fifa expands de tournament to 64 teams. Maybe the Vatican can throw some money around and have a WC worthy team. Maybe they would play Iran and Fifa could market it as a crusade, since it's all Sports Entertainment now it's the perfect WWE style storyline.
I think you are exaggerating a lot; Neymar played almost all the matches, I watched his games and he got into good shape. Neymar is our best playmaker, show me at least one player in the squad who can deliver key passes. Neymar was good at every tournament, he is the top scorer in the national team's history. Or should we expect something from Vini and Raphinha, who never play well for the national team? You talk about 100% fitness, but for some reason, you don't mention other players, like Alisson, who is still injured, or Marquinhos, who plays every other match for PSG, practically playing only in the Champions League, or Danilo, who was called up for reasons unknown. Why is the conversation only about Neymar? Look at the passes he provides at Santos; the players there are not on his level and cannot convert 100% chances. I think Neymar can be used as an attacking midfielder; even coming off the bench, he will pose a great danger due to his experience, technique, and skill. And finally, to sum up, Messi is still the best Argentine player, and he was deservedly called up.
Luis Henrique is very good. Endrick, I am not sure how effective he will be to adjust to WC pressure given his age .
The point is Neymar "WAS" and not what Neymar "IS" at the moment. Seen him playing off late. He is very slow and sluggish but unfortunately we dont have better options though . Do you think Neymar gets a chance if we had an Mbappe level player in our squad ? I dont trust Vini as well . Seen him miss so many chances near Penalty box ( Always undecided what to do ...Shoot or pass or dribble in that zone ) . But the good thing is we dont need a France like super stacked team to win the WC ( Teams that strong dont end up winning the WC ......Brazil 1998, 2006 etc )....We need a team which plays for a purpose and gel wel together ( Example - Argentina 2022 ) ......Ancelotti knows how to do it,
BG was substituted today on injury concerns. Newcastle’s concern over Bruno Guimarães’ injury is reportedly serious. The Brazilian midfielder only recently returned from a 10-week hamstring rehabilitation, and early fears are that this could be a re-aggravation or even another muscular tear. Medical scans are expected within the next 24-48 hours.
