Thanks for the write-ups Mano. Was only able to watch the first 70' min or so of the match against Niort. I thought Red Star looked solid defensively, except for maybe a few moments early in the second half. Balijon made a few fine saves during these moments. Maybe a draw is a fair result based on what I watched -- both teams had some chances. Ngamukol with a yellow for an apparent dive in the box. I'm not too sure it was but I didn't get a chance to see it again. Not a bad point away from home. Up next is Metz who are coming off of a 5 - 0 win and are sitting in 3rd. Should be a good test.

You didn't watch the most interesting match :D
I was at the game. It was not very funny to watch, and draw is fair. From our point of view, there wasn't any foul against Ngamukol. Our defence is strong, but we must find a good forward (or just a forward who can score).
Next three opponents are Metz, Bourg and Dijon, so taking 5 points sounds good to me.

Woah! Nice win against one of the better teams in Ligue 2.

During the first half I understood exactly what you meant Mano. Red Star seemed to lack creativity in the final third. The match was fairly even for the first 30' or so. Sliti had impressive movement with and without the ball, but some of his set-piece deliveries were off. Received a yellow for a clear dive around the 43'. You could feel Red Star growing and creating more chances towards the end of the half.

Second half -- wow. Two quick goals, both from a Plumain cross to Ngamukol. It was good, sharp attacking play. Red Star continued to put pressure on Metz for the next 20 minutes or so. Really nice goal from Bouazza to seal the victory. It was definitely a penalty, but I'm not sure Cros deserved a red card -- there were other defenders in the area and the tackle wasn't very harsh. Red Star held on and stayed aggressive in defending; and there was some smart counter attacking. Fun match to watch. Were you at the game Mano?

Next up is Bourg en Bresse, sitting just under Red Star in the table.

No, I wasn't... Games on tuesday 9pm, it's just impossible. And I can't go to Beauvais these times, keep my money for real away days.

Red Star FC 3-1 FC Metz

Brilliant performance by our players against L1 contender of Metz. Anatole Ngamukol scored twice (53, 55), assisted by Bouazza (Plumain didn't play haha). And third goal was scored by Hameur Bouazza (75). Metz reduces the score on a penalty kick (78) tranformed by Ngbakoto. On this PK, Pierrick Cros was sent off, but don't deserved the card...

Comp: Balijon - Palun, Cros, Fournier, Amieux - Da Cruz (cap), Makhedjouf, Boe-Kane - Sliti, Bouazza, Ngamukol.
Subs: Diaz for Sliti (73), Marie for Makhedjouf (80), Chavalerin for Ngamukol (92)

Bouazza played his best game of this season (against the most awful L2 shirt).

Away victory, with a special defence (Jeanvier was injured and Cros suspended). Lloyd Palun played as central back, and he scored on a Bouazza's free kick (71). It's our very first victory on FBBP01's field (FC Bourg-Péronnas sounded better...).

Starting XI: Balijon - Marie, Palun, Fournier, Amieux - Da Cruz (cap), Boe-Kane, Makhedjouf - Sliti, Bouazza, Ngamukol.
Subs: Chavalerin for Makhedjouf (68), Diaz for Sliti (76), Sampaio for Bouazza (92).

First goal with RSFC for Gabonese international Lloyd Palun.

Great work by Red Star so far this season. Seemed like the team might struggle with having just been promoted to Ligue 2, but 4th place and 30 pts is impressive at this point. Visiting league leaders Dijon should provide a good test.

It's just fantastic for us, but of course we must be careful... Second part of the season is an other championship, our goal is to get quickly 42 pts (average to stay in L2 last seasons).

How much did Kevin Lefaix play this year because he just quit the club and he scored 21 goals last year. He wasnt good enough for Ligue 2 level ?

Was only able to watch from 20’ or so. Dijon created a good number of chances in the first half but Red Star showed strong defending throughout the match. Dijon seems to have some quality offensive players, but Red Star’s defense remained solid. Could hear the Red Star fans outsinging the home supporters for the majority of the match.

Second half was a bit better -- Red Star had a bit more control of the play and were able to play in Dijon’s half. There were some chances on the counter as well. Almeida has the team playing hard and with a lot of energy.

Visiting the league leaders and team with Dijon’s quality made the draw almost feel like 3 pts. For me, it was a deserved result and a good one for Red Star. Time for a necessary holiday break. Joyeux Noël

Very good draw, we're 5th at half-season. On beginning of the game, Hameur Bouazza's goal was cancelled due to an offside position. Now, holidays before the game against Lens (unbeaten since 8 games).

Starting XI: Balijon - Palun, Cros, Fournier, Amieux - Da Cruz (cap), Boe-Kane, Makhedjouf - Sliti, Bouazza, Ngamukol.
Subs: Chavalerin for Makhedjouf (69), Diaz for Sliti (73), Plumain for Bouazza (90).

Cruel loss yesterday. Two red cards and Lens second goal in the 93'. It's biased, but I thought both the red cards were strange. Bouazza must have said something really bad to deserve a second yellow -- the initial tackle didn't look really hard and it seemed that he was telling the Lens player to get up. Sampaio given a straight red card in the 89' for a high boot. Lens scored at the death during a chaotic situation in the box. In general, I thought the match was pretty even. Lens jumps over Red Star in the table, Red Star down to 6th (still in a very good position).

The type of result that you prefer to forget about. Lens jumps over Red Star in the table, Red Star down to 6th (still in a very good position). On to the next one. Next match is on Friday away to Tours.

Impressed with both the home and the away supporters, seemed like a really good atmosphere.

Red Star FC 1-2 RC Lens

Lens helped by the referee against a RSFC side unfairly reduced to 9 players, it's the only way to win for them.
They need a shit pass by Kevin 'WTF' Diaz and an OG in additionnal time to win.
Hameur Bouazza and Rui Sampaio were banned for fouls that didn't deserve more than a yellow, to be honest.
Rémy Amieux was broke (and injured) by a Lens defender who didn't even receive a yellow card, and many others fouls on our players.
And RCL fans didn't even respected minute of applause in memory of Christophe Fiatte. Shameful.

Team: Balijon - Palun, Jeanvier, Fournier, Amieux - Da Cruz (cap), Cros, Makhedjouf - Bouazza, Sliti, Plumain.
Subs: Diaz for Amieux (30), Chavalerin for Makhedjouf (70), Sampaio for Sliti (80).
Goals: Plumain (60) for RSFC / Autret (64), Palun OG (93).
Red cards: Bouazza (68), Sampaio (90).

Ange-Freddy Plumain scored against his former club.

Issa Baradji, forward who played for AC Ajaccio (L1&L2) and Royal White Star (Belgium 2nd tier), was on trial two last weeks. I don't know if he'll sign, but we desperatly need a striker.
For next game: no Ngamukol, no Bouazza. So again Plumain as striker, but he's a wing forward.

Issa Baradji signs for 18 months. He's a 20 years old forward from Royal White Star Bruxelles (Belgian 2nd tier); he played for AC Ajaccio two seasons (L1 & L2). His loan to Colmar (National) last summer wasn't a success, and ended after two months.
