some dude named Alexis something was on that team lol... Silva, Grondona, Medina, and Vidangossy aunque jugaba retrasado..

Right, I was referring to 9s: Sánchez or "Alexis" is not a 9. I am sure you know that.

you asked about 'delanteros' , not '9's.

IN other news, England U20 dismantled Uruguay 3-0 in a training match

Well the implication is that when I was referring to Medina and Grondona is that I was referring to...9s, delanteros de área. Do you know the difference between that type of player and what Alexis and Edu do for example? Or do you need me to clear it up for ya?

Oh, I get it: you go by the #s, like an early 90s videogame. :D Gotcha.

Thus, the original point I was trying to make--and I will ensure I am more explicit this time--is that the 9s/goalscoring threats in the current U20 team are fare more dangerous than 2007's. The 9s in 2007 (and by "9" I mean a central striker not the number 9, perse) were Nicolás Medina and Jaime Grondona. Take those 9s (again not the number, see above) and compare them in style to the current crop: Henríquez, Castillo and even Mora.

Again, my apologies if I wasn't explicit enough: I went by the sense that most of us knew the difference in playing style between a guy like Alexis and let's say Sebastián Pinto. I will be more careful next time. :)

Well i didn't realize i had to backtrack all your previous posts for context. when i read 'what other forwards were ont he team', i answered. if it was a bit snooty, which it might have been, i apologize. not an excuse, but i've been a bit 'pesado' with my family and wife these days too. its stress, but ittll be over in two days. sorry

as for the whole 'understanding how 9's work', if my understanding is correct, those are the type of forwards that have all but become obsolete this day in age right? lol. there are very few great 9's left (a la Falcao or Balotelli).... the best forwards in the world are more versatile, smaller, quicker, and technical (messi, suarez, aguero, tevez, rooney, van persie ... even guys like ibra, etoo, and drogba don't rely on the classic power forward good in teh air game as much as old 9s like Batistuta, Crespo, Adriano, Vieri, Zamorano used to)... but some of them do wear the number 9, so maybe i don't know shiz.

I'd say absolutely all of the forwards on this team (CAstillo, Angelo, Mora) and even guys that didn't go the WC like Rubio, are much than Medina and Grondona. But none of them are classic 9's either, as most play as supporting strikers and on the wings. Castillo is the closest you'd get to a classic 9, but thats because in Chile everyone is 5'5 and at an average 5'10 he's like a giant. And even for Catolica he was a companion striker, the tetracampista of sorts, though maybe more advanced on the field. The versatility is a good thing, and will give us more depth up front and attacking options.

I know in Chile a lot of people clamour about the missing '9', but we haven't had a real one since Pinilla a long time ago. soccer is moving towards more speedy and versatile players, and luckily in Alexis/Vargas we have good ones, and the Castillo/Angelo/Rubio/Mora crop, while not as technical and perhaps more direct, will continue that legacy.
