Who moderates this section of BS? The list of cities in the Candidate Cities forum is really funny. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forums/candidate-cities.1062/ It only has 1 of the 3 confirmed expansion cities. There really needs to be a forum for Nashville and Cincinnati instead of just a single thread. I would like to be able to discuss stadiums, rosters, coaching staff, start dates, etc for each of these cities. There really needs to be another sub forum under "MLS: Expansion" called "Confirmed Expansion Cities" and then inside there needs to be a forum for Miami, Nashville and Cincinnati. P.S. I don't think discussing MLS specific info for these cities should be done in the USL forums for these cities. MLS != USL. Completely separate topics of discussion. PSS. It doesn't even look like Nashville and Cincinnati don't even have their own forums in the USL forum.
That should say "It doesn't even look like Nashville and Cincinnati have their own forums in the USL forum."
It's all happened relatively fast. I'll be working on a clean up soon. If you or anyone else has suggestions of which cities are regularly mentioned and should be included in "candidate cities", please do so. Note, I'm changing the title to make this thread more productive.
My suggestions for two subforms: "Candidate Cities" (* existing) Carolinas* Cincinnati Detroit* Las Vegas Phoenix* Sacramento San Antonio San Diego* St Louis* I suggest removing Milwaukee. "Cities Confirmed For Expansion" Cincinatti Miami Nashville Thoughts?
FYI, you have Cincinnati duplicated in your lists. They would only need to be in the "confirmed" list. Also, just for simplicity and consistency I would call the two sub forums "Candidate Cities" and "Confirmed Cities". You don't need to include "expansion" in the title as you are already inside the Expansion forum.
Some suggestions: 1. Do not lump Raleigh/Durham & Charlotte together. Thosexare TWO bids. Two cities. Two forums. 2. You forgot Indy. And listed Cincy twice. 3. Vegas did not bid officially to my knowledge. 4. I would go with 3 or 4 sub forums: A) Incoming Franchises: Mia, Cin, Nash B) Official Bids: Sacramento, Detroit, Phoenix, SD, Tampa, SA, Indy, St. Louis, Charlotte, Ralieh/Durham. C) No bid, seeking team?: Austin, Vegas. You could have a 4th sub for other possible cities: Mil, Balt, Cle, SF, NO, Pitt, etc) or just lump them in with Austin & Vegas. I would go that route to avoid pie fights about if a particular city is seeking a team or not. 5. For teams with active USL, NASL (if actice) or other clubs, do they have existing forums and will moving MLS discussion tick them off? 6. Is it possible to have multiple entrance points into the same thread (USL team MLS rumors + mls candidate cities)?
I think a two split makes sense, but would add "confirmed" to the candidate cities as well. For clarification it would need to be decided who counts as a confirmed candidate city: Does a name drop from an MLS exex during interview suffice or has there to be an actual submitted bid, confirmed by the league like for example this https://www.mlssoccer.com/topic/expansion/2017/expansion-cities-bids. etc. Maybe it could also be made without sub-forums entirely, instead simply with sticky threads or with title prefixes? confirmed for expansion (Teams 24-26) Cincinnati (2019) Nashville (2020) Miami (2020) confirmed candidate cities (Teams 27 & 28) Charlotte Detroit Indianapolis Phoenix Raleigh/Durham Sacramento St. Louis San Antonio San Diego Tampa/St. Petersburg unconfirmed candidate cities and random expansion talk as "normal threads".
I think a forum to discuss league structure might be useful as well, to give us a place to discuss which conferences and divisions cities might be grouped into.
Maybe MLS acknowledging a team on their web site's banner should be the standard for starting an MLS team thread? All three teams are listed there. This would eliminate the need to move these subfora when the teams start play. Anyhow any discussion in these fora should be maintained in the final mls team forum.
We are at almost a month since the last Moderator post. Where are we in the clean up/redesign of this forum?
This still needs some work. And with new news on Austin, new realities. I have liked the attempts so far. But we need to keep going. 1. In but not started = 3. Nashville, Miami, Austin. Nashville is complicated as they have a real life USL team happening this year. No such issues in Miami/Austin as their other sides are under different ownership. 2. Official Candidates = 10. St. Louis, Sacramento, Phoenix, Detroit, San Antonio, San Diego, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Raleigh/Durham, Tampa Bay. 3. Everyone else. As threads or in own sub-forum. Vegas plus others.
The ins should be a sub forum. There are really no viable candidate cities right now that deserve a separate subforum. We're just chasing rumors on those, and that can be done on a thread. Essentially, if someone hasn't posted in a subforum in 6 months or a year, why have it?
I started this thread 6 months ago. I think it's time to start added some of the sub forums suggested. Can we report that the mod of the forum is doing nothing? I am not sure why it is being made so complicated. Let's have a sub forum for official expansion teams with a sub forum for each team inside that. Official expansion Nashville Austin Miami Expansion candidates (with each city that has been specifical mentioned by MLS)
You can, but you should probably know that the mod of this forum (or any forum) does not have the ability to create forum or subs. Mods can only make suggestions to those that actually run the site. We have no control over whether the suggestions are taken up. I've made the suggestion numerous times. I'll make it again.
