    Van, Can.
Well I don't see any mention of a strike in that article. But if that's the case, just ditch him. In no way are we reliant on the guy so send him home.

But at the same time I tend to agree with Johan Neeskins on this one, it's not as big a deal as the press are making it out to be.

Journalists are funny. In the header and the top half they say Seedorf threatens to strike, but yet in the lower half of the same article you can see that Advocaat says that's not the case at all.

This news has already been shown for what it's worth (el big zippo) in 2 threads here I think, at least in 1.

Was it... Sorry, fellas. I did look for a thread that mentioned it and couldn't find one. The aricle does contradict itself...

'"If the coach decides different I will sit on the bench, it's that simple," added Seedorof'

Seems pretty straightforward to me. But then it says what you've mentioned above.

I think he's being misquoted by that part about sitting on the bench.

He mentioned that after saying he would try to get the starting spot as #10 because he thinks his qualities will show better on that position..."and if Advocaat thinks differently, I'll sit on the bench". As in, if Advocaat doesn't think he's the best man for that spot, which he doesn't: van der Vaart, then he'd be sitting on the bench.

If Seedorf would strike because he didn't want to play on another position, he wouldn't be sitting on the bench, he would get sent back to Italy.

I wish the Dutch media (for whom I have a great contempt as it is) would leave him the hell alone for once. As much of an egotistic ************** as he is, he deserves a chance.

    Yeah. Good point.

The thing is that the Dutch have a bit of a reputation for this sort of thing. Sometimes it's undeserved, as you say, but sometimes it's not. Wasn't there something with Edgar Davids in '96?

like i said in another thread i think it just a misunderstanding that happens when something is translated from one language to another.

imo all he is saying is his best chance to start is at the #10 position and if he cannot earn that spot it means he will be a substitute.

what does spin control mean? is it similar to damage control? like trying to say everything is perfect when it isnt?
