I would have to agree. I thought we could throw streamers at stoped play. Guess not?

If they not want people to throw them then Wizards shouldnt provide them anymore.

I heard they were going to kick out a 9 year old for throwing one.

    Front office class act lastnight.

I have had season tickets every year the Wizards have played and have sat in the Caldron for many years. Last night was the worst night I have ever spent there and it wasn't because of my fellow fans. It was because of security. :( First of all we are given streamers and then harrassed because people throw them. The first couple during play but after that when play was stopped. People being kicked out for throwing streamers during play stoppage, unbelieveable. We had eyes starring at us (Caldron fans) like we were in prison. I was not a drunken fan nor were many of the people throwing them during stoppage time. I felt like a kid in a classroom with a crazy teacher egging me on to misbehave so she could show everyone who was in charge. No one wins in this case. Unfortunately the team lost the supportors in this game as it became Caldron against security. I hope this matter can be worked out as I don't enjoy going to games with this atmosphere. The security guards in brown were only during what the Wizards security instructed them to do. So the Wizards front office needs to get their act together and communicate their expectations. You can't allow streamers and then expect no one to use them.

Brian Bauer should of seen jail time after the stunts he pulled last time. His actions last night were embarrassing for everyone involved.

I agree 100% with Topeka Chick. It was a pathetic display, especially by Chris Wyche. It is unacceptable for him to chase a member of the Cauldron (Mark?) up the stairs to confront him at halftime. After that I and a large group of other longtime Cauldronites had had enough and left. I hope the players realize we all left at halftime to protest the treatment we were receiving from Wyche (as he was personally instructing the security staff to kick people out). I hope the front office will apoligize and fix the situation before Saturday.

It was Mark, it was right after I'd gathered up a bunch of streamers and just dumped them over the edge of the section.

This was a horrible game to have to watch. It was sad because it wasn't because the Wizards lost or were losing it was actually a good game. It had to do with Mr. Plastic badge disrupting the game for all the fans in the Cauldron. Pretty soon it was lets watch who they are going to kick out next and oh there is a soccer game. Then at halftime when the streamers were taken away they kicked someone out and a lot of people left it wasn't fun anymore. So I left, I'm planning on going back, but the Mr. Plastic badge over zellousness needs to stop.

... I am not a member of the Cauldron myself yet but I have been in there with you guys 4-5 times this season and I planned on getting my season ticket in there next year. This is really depressing .. I saw them pointing people out from the Field Reserve position. You were ID cards shy of being treated like Millwall fans tonight .... I don't want to deal with getting shit for no reason so I'm gonna use the FO response to this, and the final game this season to see if I want to bother.

I've done the fan in the fishbowl thing to many times to want to deal with it and the twisted irony of it is ... nothing gets fans violent quicker than making them feel like they are on a hiding to nothing anyway. I'd have relished it ten years ago ... especially here in MLS where the security can't deal. Treat people like hooligans for long enough ... they will turn up, especially when the moderating forces get fed up and leave.

I was in the bleachers and noticed the over-the-top-ridiculousness of which the Cauldron was being monitored last night as if cheering, singing, and streamers lead to violence and hooliganism. PATHETIC DISPLAY from the security and the Wizards FO members with them, pointing people out and having them escorted out for little to nothing (as it sounds from the responses above). I have been in the Cauldron in the past and noticed nothing different or unruly about the Cauldron last night. After reading these responses, I'm very upset, frustrated, and in many ways confused about why last night, why that match.

The 2nd half was noticeable quite and really killed the atmosphere in the stadium. Half of my enjoyment is singing along now and then and trying to get a few others in the bleachers to join in. Without the Cauldron's supportive singing, cheering, and flag waving it really sucked the life out of the match.

Very dissapointing FO and security. This kind of overzealous crap is how to break up a supporters section, loss connections with your most passionate supporters, create disinterest from fans, and ruin the match atmosphere.

Actually posted this in the FAIL thread, but it's probably more specific to this one.

Sounds to me like there should be an all hands meeting on State Line tomorrow to clarify what the tifo policy is, what exactly happened Saturday night and in what order, who has been sh-tting the bed and what action is required to rectify it. Clearly, when one part of an organization is not only encouraging but providing a supply of streamers, and another part of the same organization is cracking down on it like a Central American junta, someone either missed a f-ing memo, or the brass is not presenting a unified front on the issue. Either way, something going on this long is a systemic problem that, for whatever reason, has not been sufficiently addressed. If what I heard about security is true, it suggests that they are getting such wildly conflicting instructions that they refuse to deal with it anymore. Call it a red flag, a cry for help or whatever, it demands attention.

They should probably have a refresher in March.

I might get some shit over this but at this point , I really don't care...As I do agree security was over the top with kicking people out, I don't think we can direct any HOSTILITY towards the guys in front of the Cauldron. They were doing their jobs as being told to them buy their boss! I don't agree with cussing at them, spitting on them, or getting in their faces. It does nothing to help us!!! I was in the front row and was embarrassed of some behavior that shown when the first kid got kicked out. I know he did nothing wrong and with him leaving, so did his parents and friends. The ones that should have got kicked out were on either side of him and are part of the WU-TANG group. I myself had to leave before I knocked you two out for your mouths! I have never been so ashamed of the the Cauldron as I was Saturday night. I agree with every one about security and the streamers but show some class!!! We are not Houston fans, we are KC Wizard fans. I may still be considered a newby to the section but the old timers showed class by leaving rather than being asses towards the security and every one around them. I will give out two "GOOD JOBS" to Mike for TALKING to security rather than degrade them, and the other is to George for keeping me from bashing on my fellow Cauldronites. We need to work together and not against each other. We are not Hooligans nor is that accepted here....if you want to be that way...go to Houston! I will say this though...my kids are coming to last game with me and we will be on the front row, I won't tolerate the degrading language like I did Saturday...not a threat, not trying to seperate the Cauldron but the shit needs to stop! I won't be pushed out because of your attitudes, harrassment and behavior...we all have the right to be there and have a good time...I know we all get mad at the refs or try to throw the opposing player off their game by yelling at them but the way it done Saturday was uncalled for and to degrade the security that was horrible. I won't stand there and let it happen again!!!! That is a promise!!!! There are other means to the common end!!!

Totally agree, the WuTangers ,total tools, childish, poor language. They need to shut the hell up or stay home. Juvenile language and throwing projectiles every game. Idiot Collective. Without those jackasses, none of that BS would have happened.

What is the average age of those guys, 13,14 or so? REAL TOUGH GUYS.

Honestly I believe there were a lot of people at fault. To say security did their job sure they did. However their over reaction to the Cauldron reaction wasn't right either. Instead of watching the game I was watching security, to see what they were going to do next and that was a gigantic distraction to my enjoyment of the game.

I once had a lady friend who was constantly getting hurt by guys. Pretty soon she decided that all guys were A-holes. I tried many times to explain to her that if you treat a guy like he is going to be one he will be one. Pretty soon she started to take advantage of my good guy personality. She would call me to pick her up at bars and call crying that a guy did this or said that. She would make plans with me then cancel at the last min, change them or not bother to call me back. Even though I was supposedly her best friend. Sure I'd like to make things right with this person but it isn't possible because the same stuff will always happen again. I maybe crazy but I'm not insane. You might ask what is the point of the story? Well I've always lived by the philosophy that it is nice to be nice to people but when it is expected of you it isn't nice anymore.

My take is I believe the security was expecting the Cauldron to be nice based on a set of rules that hadn't ever been enforced before. We can complain all we want but what would that solve? I really haven't read anything that we can do as a group to solve the situation and move on. So we can have the best experience on game day in the future.

Not sure you were at the same game....Nothing by any of us was thrown. Language escalated as the situation with security worsened. All of us are season ticket holders and have not missed a game in well over three seasons and this is the only instance of this. Please, find us and air greivencess in person, were all in our late 20s, degree having nice guys.

Its funny because without us, all of this still would have happened, just no one would have stood up for fellow fans like we do. We are vocal, we do support Kansas City at every turn and will fight for a fan to remain who has done nothing. It seems *some* of you just like talking to shit to one another and loose sight of the fact were all here for the same reason. We All Bleed Blue

i was not down in that part of the section but i had my eye on it when i saw a some tall dude (not sure if he was in your group or any group) who went off on chris, who deserved it, and eventualy talked himself into an ejection.

that may be taking up for fellow fans from yours and others points of view but in this scenario it would not have gotten him, the others that were ejected or the next person who could/did get ejected anywhere all this guy did was piss people off.

now another way to handle it like others have stated would to have kept our cool and talk to the assholes from the FO that were overreacting and figure out what got up their asshole instead of escalating the situation ourselves

"Please, find us and air greivencess in person." Ohhhhhh a threat from the Kc Hooligans, funny stuff loudmouth.

I will, and then you can kick my ass in front of everyone like a real Hooligan would. Cool it with the Language, making rude comments to families walking in front of the Cauldron and throwing beer.

No 8 year old kid wants to hear you telling his mom she has a nice ass.

didn't read like a threat to me, just someone who would rather talk face to face.

can we form a unified front instead on fighting amongst ourselves before the FO is given a reason to look at us as a security threat:(

Talk about what? How tough you are when you drunk? How your creative language is good for kids? I will, and be prepared to get your face cussed out like you cuss out everyone else. How do you like getting cussed at? Enjoy it? Are you gonna take a swing? Jump me after the game?

I bet you won't act so calm when I cuss you out in person. I won't be talking nice. I am going to use YOUR words so you know what it's like.

The whole night was horribly mishandled and this was the first time I've ever left a game (intentionally). After the third or fourth ejection I went to the back to try and figure out what I could do to help settle things down and get everyone back to supporting the team. I was blown off with a flippant hand gesture, and since I was already near the exit...

Earlier in the game I was able to get an explanation for one ejection that was for a supposed "minute-and-a-half" profanity filled tirade directed at one security guy. I didn't hear it, but this was the explanation. If true, I'm sure the guy that was ejected felt it was deserved, but you can't be too surprised that you'd get kicked out for it. Now if they're just kicking people out for cursing, I think that's an unsustainable policy. I don't know what the exact circumstances were regarding the others, but the whole affair could've been handled better.

Having been on the front row to witness it - if we're indeed talking about the same incident - it was equal parts completely deserved and wholly unfair.

One of the HWBs (hooligan wanna-bes) in the lower corner of the section began to berate the security guard about the one plus two who were ejected for throwing streamers on the field despite some clear doubts about whether they were indeed the perpetrator. A Wizards staffer stepped in, and the HWB was warned a couple of times about language and tone. As the Wizards staffer turned to walk away in an attempt to defuse the situation, the tirade continued - earning a deserved ejection.

Again, there are doubts as to whether the person that was originally ejected was indeed the perpetrator of the original offense, but there are proper channels, times and methods for a discussion with Security - none of which were applied here.
