section.8.blackhawks :: season two One season is over, the next begins. Hawk Ultras unite for season two! Chicago Hockey Discussion Here...Hawks, Wolves, High School (Go Loyola!)
Re: section.8.blackhawks :: season two I don't want to criticize your moderating status, but does a Blackhawks thread really belong stickied on Bigsoccer?
It was stickied last season, met with great success with the games we attended, and was a popular and much talked-about event among a good portion of section 8ers. The thread here was the main information distribution place for game information. I'd say it belongs here. And no one is stopping anyone from organising a Wolves outing. Go ahead. Someone said they were going to last year I think I didn't for some reason that I forget... But anyway, we'll still be doing this over the offseason for those interested. I'm going to pick out some dates and good games to focus on, and hopefully pull off that Columbus roadtrip in February.
yeah, it being stickied is cool... something needs to go on in the postseason, there need to be things to do... a few nhl games were organized last year however, i am a blues fan where are my fellow blues fans... i know there are a few of us in here LONG LIVE THE GLORY OF ST. LOUIS!! especially in regards to the Cardinals http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news/ap/20021004/ap-kile-djprank.html (this guy would be what is called a dick and going to get his ass beaten)
Maybe we should retitle this section.8.hockey or something similar. I'm not against a trip down to STL, but then again, I'm not really a fan of any Illinois hockey team
Even though the Blues are gonna struggle this year, I can safely say they will once again go deeper in the playoffs than the Hacks. Theo Fleury? C'mon.
section.8.blackhawks :: season two Cheap F'ing washed up drug ridden hack. He played for Sutter at Calgary, thats why he's here. Sutter was a terrible thing for the Hawks. He whipped up a bunch of schmucks into playing above their heads and now Dollar Bill Wirtz doesn't think he needs to pay for an more talent, so he won't. Look at the signings this year and it all adds up. The whole think makes me ill. Most of the fans on this board know more about soccer than I ever will. However, I played hockey for 20 years and have a pretty good handle on it. Wirtz is a cabbage scalping whore. All the Wirtz's are complete jobs. I've met them all. This is one of the reasons I have become a devout Fire fan. The Fire organization is 1st class and cares about their fans. I understand that the Fire is looking for all the fans they can get and are therefore hungrier. But look at all the empty seats at a Hawks game and you realize that the Wirtz's are complete schmucks. You must put out a good product to put butts in the seats; spend money to make money. Wirtz would make a ton of cash if he put a highly competitive, talented team on the ice. But no, we suffer year in and year out with other teams cast offs. The only good trade I can remember was Savard for Chelios. Then they practically gave Chelios to the Red Wings. Dumb b*stards. For any whiners out there about the Fire, take a look at the Hawks. Then you will realize how lucky you are. Off my soapbox and back to thinking about how many brain cells I'm going to kill tonight and what with.
I sure am. I grew up in St. Louis and hockey was kind of a religion. Sorry guys, I was trained to hate Chicago and especially Detriot.
section.8.blackhawks :: season two Hey, Mr. Moderator. If you continue to threaten me I WILL NOT buy you a birthday beer! PS Hawks Suck
Are any of the Section 8 regulars who are thinking of going to a few Blackhawks games interested in going to Milwaukee to get a live soccer (albeit indoor soccer) fix to tide us over until April? Upcoming Milwaukee Wave home dates are: Oct. 25, Nov. 8, Nov. 16, Dec. 8, Dec. 14, Dec. 31 Indoor soccer is like a cross between hockey and soccer so if you like the fire and the Blackhawks, maybe we can give the Wave a try. Please post any thoughts in the "Section 8 catches the Wave" thread to avoid confusion. Thanks!
Hey hey, big ups for my Blues! This year we're going for a mediocre regular season while we save the best for the playoffs. That's why Pronger's taking off until January, right. Same here, my parents grew up blocks from the old stadium, along with the whole family being die-hard Blues fans, so I had no choice. Thank god too, I could have ended up a Hacks fan, or worse, a facking Red Wings fan.
i only got into hockey when i went to college... since i was a cardinals fan first and foremost at that time, it was a logical choice to pick up the blues because of the nfl cardinals, i easily became a bears fan i could care less about the nba... better known as "no rules ball however, since i have been getting into soccer more for the past few years it goes fire, mls, cardinals, illini b-ball, bears, blues, mlb, nfl, ncaa... in order of most priority to least priority (assuming country always comes before club and therefore does not need to be stated)
Chicago hockey discussion thread created...information on upcoming s.8.hawks events is coming as the regular season commences.
Here are two good possibilities for the first match to attend: Sat Oct 19 7:00 PM v Calgary Sun Oct 27 6:00 PM v SJ The Calgary game could be a good gathering for those not attending/ignoring MLS Cup (which is a good number) but waiting till the SJ game could give us more time to get the word out to the number of regulars without internet access. As always, section 8 at the UC is behind the South goal on the 300 level, usually the upper reaches of 326 (but we have been known to move after the game starts). Tickets can usually be obtained day-of-game at the UC for $15 and $10 with a student ID of any sort. So, let's hear some opinions on which game would be best to start with (I'm leaning toward the 27th) and maybe even a few pre- or post-match ideas.
Is there enough interest in both that justifies planning for both? If so, let's do it! I want to hear from others, first, however.
In the intrest of time and getting the most people there, let's just do the 27th. Sunday 27 Oct @ 6 PM v San Jose will be our first outing.
How would that interfere with a hockey game on Saturday? I'll probably be watching the game, but I know a great deal of the people who have been going to the Hawks games probably won't be watching the Cup. Besides, the first game is on the 27th, so the whole issue is moot.
Not trolling, but good luck getting tickets if you're planning on coming. Currently we're at 58 straight sellouts (not counting tomorrow's game). Anyway, your best bet would be to get tickets now, or else you'd have to try your luck with the scalpers, which obviously won't guarantee you seats together or near each other.
