We just received an email from the sales office informing us that Section 119 no longer exists because of the construction. And to call tomorrow to relocate our seats, and "good seats are still available." What?? I'm actually pretty angry. We deposited early to get priority choice for our season tickets and now that is out the window. What kind of planning is this on the front office's part? I know there's things that come up with construction, but now, with a couple of months left before the season starts, you get rid of a whole section?? Text from message: "When you have a chance please take a look at both the old and newly updated seating chart. Due to construction; we were just informed that minor modifications are going to be made to the venue in Santa Clara. Your seats at Buck Shaw were initially located in Section 119. After looking at the map you will see that Section 119 no longer exists. Unfortunately this means that we are going to have to move your seat locations. Please note that there are great seats still available for you." I know that Buck Shaw is only a "temporary" venue, but this is not how I wanted to start my relationship with the Earthquakes. cindy
That sucks. I hope you end up with some seats you are happy with. Did they include a new view of the seating chart?
Here is the new seating chart: Looks like 119,120 are gone AA added ~ 119's Old Location GG Added with an odd viewing angle
Looks like they should reassign the 119s to AA, which is pretty much the same, and then only the 120s have a problem.
It looks like they shifted the whole thing down. I would guess that it is going to move my seats further away from mid pitch. Nice.
I think they lopped off one end and tacked onto the other, so everything in the middle stays the same.
The new seating charts bites. I got my seats in section D thinking they would be at midfield but from the chart it looks like all sections (except for the premier midfield of course) are being shifted. Bummer!
While none of this has effect on me, I have wondered if the published seating charts are indicative of the reported shift of the pitch toward the end seats (sections 108 and 109)? My guess is that they decided to make some changes to the practice field, as that is what will impact that corner of the configuration. I always thought that the practice field would seem to interfere with the seats on the end. As it is, the original configuration had seats behind the southeast end line, next to where the scoreboard/jumbotron is to be located.
The practice field layout is consistent with the original rendering. What wasn't consistent with the original rendering was the original seating chart.
Thats true, im just bummed because when I was picking my seats my rep assured me that section D was centered on the mid line.
I was one of the 119 casualties. When I got home today and got the e-mail I was ready to go ballistic. Sent my rep and e-mail explaining my distress. It was already after 6pm and I figured it would be tomorrow before I could get this sorted out. But on a whim I tried calling my rep on the off chance he'd be working late to fix this. Sure enough, he was there and I got replaced into the AA section. I'm okay with that. As long as the new seats 1. had a back, 2. were on an aisle, and 3. were no further away from midfield than before, I'd be okay. Otherwise I'd be a bit miffed. New seats fit all three criteria. I was impressed that my rep, Anthony, was still in the office late. He did a great job of getting me taken care of and fixing a problem that he wasn't responsible for. I just hope that everyone can be as satisfactorily accommodated as I was. Because otherwise this will become a major league mess! People who placed deposits early on to get seating priority winding up with seats they don't like is a customer service nightmare.
I picked aisle seats on D, (bordering E) and now I believe I am further away from midfield. If I would have picked the other end of D I would now be right at midfield.
Which seats are the ones on the aisle of Sections D bordering Section E? I asked my ticket rep for aisle seats but I didn't specify to which aisle since I though that Section D would be midfield. I have seats 28 & 29 which I'm hoping they are bordering Section C otherwise I'm in the same boat as you.
Now that you have reposted the original drawing, it's obvious that the "new" seating chart is actually the correct version. I am in 104, on the opposite side, so nothing changes for me. I had assumed that they had made some sort of modification that enabled the temp seating to be more centered that what appeared in the initial drawing. "Assumptions" are almost always a bad thing.
I guess the moral of the story is that there is an inherent risk in buying seats in a grandstand that only exists on paper!
Props to you for figuring that out several months ago as I recall. I will say this is kinda a kick in the teeth for anyone who bought seats in the new section based on relation to midfield. But at least the seating chart now matches reality. Good news is it looks like we still have a full sized pitch, just the stands on the seating chart are now sitting where they are in reality.
That was the primary reason I chose section 108. It may be in the old section, but I could scout the seats last fall and knew exactly what I was getting. I may upgrade to the new grandstand in 09, but now we'll know what to expect.
The seats in the new stands (the lowers at least) are number in ascending order going away from the score board. I think seat #1 in section D would be midfield. But considering that the lower and upper section numbers A-B-C-D ... and 110 111 112 ... are ordered in different directions anything could happen.
