Saucedo becomes a true YA, going off with an injury in the 56th minute (I did not see what happened though he walked of the field gingerly under his own power).

    1-0 Pumas at the moment

He'll have to show he can adjust after the book is out to cut off his right foot. Didn't go all that well in MLS, but the Mexican game is more open w/ less athleticism so he'll probably get more opportunities anyway. But to become a more complete offensive player he'll have to get a secondary move and become a better passer.

May have become unmotivated over time stuck in MLS. I do think this will end up being one of the more successful stints for Americans in LigaMX.

In the starting lineup for today's game at 1 eastern. Game is on Unvision, TUDN USA, and TUDN en vivo.

He went 87 minutes in a 4-4 draw during match day 2. Highlights below:

During the midweek Saucedo started and went 25 minutes in the Copa MX Round of 16 first leg (Pumas had went down to 10 in the 14th minute). They ended up losing the road leg 4-2.

Had a couple outstanding long distance shots w/ in a minute. Quick turns onto his right, one was saved into the post, the other missed by a yard from about 30.

He had some moments of brilliance and creation, surrounding some loafing, and trying to do too much. Enigmatic player.

Manager took him out in the late 60's when it was 0-0. UNAM ended up winning 1-0 v. Monterrey. Great result for them.

This might have been a pass. Not his usual oomph and he shaped it to drop over the defense. Otherwise it was a slip on a shot w/ a fortuitous result. In any event it's an assist.

He says he doesn't want people to call him Bofo anymore. Also:

OneGoal: So once a contract is expiring in the soccer world that brings a lot of question marks for everyone. But for you, that meant the move to Liga MX and playing for Pumas. So when did you hear of that opportunity? And why did you decide that the change of scenery was best for you?

Saucedo: Honestly, I had a few options in Europe. I had a few options here in Mexico, Pumas wasn't the only Club interested. It was definitely a good situation to be in but it sucked too because my family is from Utah and RSL was always a team that I've wanted to play for and they never showed interest, and I don't know what it was. I wanted to re-sign a new contract and hopefully be one of the best players there, but at the end of the day when I'm growing as a player and as a person, I knew that me staying at RSL was not going to be an opportunity to be able to pursue my dreams. Because I do tell you one thing, if I would have re-signed for RSL, I couldn’t see myself in the Olympic Squad.

Liga MX cancelled the remaining 2020 Clausura on Friday.

Saucedo's stat line for his first abbreviated half season was a goal, two assists, and a sending off for 2 yellow cards in 594 minutes (10 appearances including 8 starts). Pumas were in 6th at the time of the season's cancellation.

He also played 25 minutes in 1 start in the Copa MX. Pumas were eliminated in the Round of 16.

Another great interview with Saucedo. Really candid about the national team set up, dual nationals, Tab Ramos's belief in him and very professionally ran U20 set up, his immaturity at RSL, really moving moment about how happy he is that his dad that worked his ass off his whole life is now coaching kids in Park City and doing for them what he did for Sebastian. I like this kid.

I think it says a lot that the Pumas coach has him taking FKs.

Really? I hadn't noticed that. Obviously we have struggled with that and could really use a plus player in dead ball situations. Stupid virus picked a bad time, why couldn't it have delayed the 2018 qualifying campaign instead?

Kid has his head on straight. He's well spoken. opinionated, candid, genuine, and clearly understands what it means to rep club and country. I love his attitude. He's hit the ground running with Pumas. Fingers crossed it leads to an opportunity with the senior USMNT.

I saw him recently in a cup game and he was taking corners and free kicks. He also flashed several times in a short period of time... but then he got hurt on a great long run and had to be removed from the game.

EDIT - I keep looking for the result and can't see it on ESPN as a fixture... I am actually confused about when this game occurred. Pretty sure there were no fans in the stands.

Talks too much for my taste. Should keep some of his opinions to himself. I couldn't care less what he thinks about Johnatan Gonzalez saga.We will definitely survive without him. "But you missed on the guy that is playing in Mexico" isn't an argument, Gonzalez made a stupid choice and that's all on him.

8 Liga MX teams, including Pumas, have been playing in an invitational tournament called the Copa por Mexico. It is being televised on TUDN. I assume that is what you saw. Pumas were eliminated in the group stage with 2 points from 3 games.

The 2020 Apertura starts July 23rd.
