No Lletget news? Ok, Sagi Lev-Ari got past the NCAA, but it's widely known that foreign-based athletes get paid without <ducks> ...
The Galaxy seem to have depth at CM, with Husidic also a Bruce favorite. Maybe he also sees time wide and underneath the striker. Or maybe he's signing with LAFC and will be loaned out.
Erm, don't you mean West Ham? He's never had anything to do with Villa, or Birmingham for that matter. Mind you, the latter probably qualifies him to be a FOX News pundit.
Right, West Ham. I always confuse those teams for some reason. Why was he never loaned? Why pay him a salary for years to never even play him in an exhibition with the 1st team?
Three possible reasons: 1) he never asked the club or his agent to arrange a loan, or 2) no club ever wanted to take him on loan, or 3) both. My money is on 2.
That's a pretty superficial response--I'm hoping for a deeper explanation. Also, many loans are initiated by the club to further development of the player, or to showcase a player in order to set up a transfer so to at least receive a return on the investment. If anyone has any actual knowledge I'd be interested.
This thread is on its 75th page. At 20 posts per page that's getting on for 1,500 posts - since June 2006! If anybody had any knowledge, it'd have been posted by now. Even if he's completely thick, his agent isn't and the club want to recoup their investment, giving both very good reason to arrange a loan at some level, (and being based in London, there's about 20 Championship, League 1 and League 2 teams in commuting distance) even if West ham eats more than the customary 50% of the player's wages. Nothing has happened, or even been rumoured to be about to happen, which suggests nobody wanted him very much. He's a reserve team player for a mid-table EPL team, who has one FA Cup appearance and about half-a-dozen bench appearances in four seasons. Nobody knows much about players like that and nobody is interested in finding out - unless his name is Julian Green . The only people who really know why a loan has never happened are the player and his agent. Ask them! Edit: According to Transfermarkt, he doesn't have an agent. If that's true, then that may go some way to explaining why he hasn't found a loan deal. It's unlikely though - everyone has an agent.
You confuse them because they're the same colors, essentially. And because a certain American had a hugely anonymous loan stint there.
You would've lost that money. I remember reading a piece about some League 1 clubs inquiring about Lletget on loan like two seasons ago but West Ham wanted to keep his "development" in house and Lletget also wanted to stay as he felt he was "close" to his debut with the first team. At this point nobody really knows what Lletget's level is. He could turn out to be good starter in MLS or just as easily be out of the game in a few years. What I do know is that when he first went to West Ham he was considered one of the best players in his age group in the US. As much as his time spent in the reserves was disappointing I really doubt the last 4 years playing in the U-21's/reserves was any worse for his development than if he'd spent that same time playing college soccer. It certainly wouldn't be unprecedented for a career reserve to come over to MLS and make an impact. We saw Simon Dawkins toil in the reserves at Spurs and come over to MLS and prove to be a good starter at that level, which ultimately lead to him getting a chance in the Premier League with Villa upon his return and then a transfer and decent minutes with a good Championship club.
look at the impact mike grella has had on nyrb after having roughly the same career in england lleget could've had had he actually ever left whufc. i think if he (lleget) does come back to mls, he'll be better schooled and better trained than most of the guys in the league and he'll do well. maybe not starring, bit certainly average/above average. it'll be interesting to see him actually play, because obviously he's been one of the biggest enigmas in the history of us soccer. my fantasy mls sense is tingling...
Around Christmas 2012? That would coincide with him making the EPL bench 4 times between Nov 28th and January first. Since then, he's stalled and it's genuinely puzzling, because he gets good minutes for the U-21 side and usually goes 90', but never pushes on. If he was useless, they wouldn't play him anything like as much All true, but he has to get on the field and play. Dawkins is a perfect example; not too proud to drop down a level or two to the Earthquakes and now he's made 70 appearances for Derby at the business end of the Championship.
Alternately, if he had turned out to be as good as was expected, he could've gone to College but quickly been fasttracked into MLS, kind of like Perry Kitchen who is only 6 months older, but has over 100 MLS appearances and a national cap. Hell, Zardes did 3 years of college and now has 60 appearances and a national cap. To see what years of EDS prepares players for, just look at where the youngsters WH have let go in the past few years have ended up. 7 in League One, 3 in League Two, 1 in the Conference and 3 in the Conference South... Hard to see how the EDS years will have helped Lletget other than financially, over and above the chance to have likely gone to a top College programme.
You and Gary Lineker. On Match of the Day, he just talked about Man City facing "West Ham <pause> ... sorry, Aston Villa."
