Hines appears to have been dropped by Mowbray. He has not appeared on the bench since 3/30 and last played on 3/5. Boro have seen their form fall off since the beginning of the year and are now in 10th and 6 points off the last promotion playoff spot with just 3 games to play. They are also 7 points clear of relegation.

Seb Hines plays for hour in defeat as defender's injury recovery continues

"Seb Hines continued his comeback from knee surgery in Boro’s Under-21 FA Premier League clash with Wolves at Victoria Park, Hartlepool, last night... The match was Hines’ first competitive workout since going under the knife in April, though he got an hour under his belt in a behind closed doors friendly last week.
He played the first 71 minutes against Wolves before making way for Jonathan Burn.
    The visitors won 2-0..."

On the bench for the 1st time this year. Middlesbrough currently 2-1 up on Yeovil at the half.

Made his return to the Championship with a full 90 in a 3-2 loss at Barnsley last Saturday:

    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/barnsley-fc-middlesbrough-fc/index/spielbericht_2332999.html

"It's unfair to blame yesterday's first half debacle on ... Seb Hines whose return was forced, probably ahead of schedule, by yet another injury to Woody and a knock suffered by Rhys Williams for Australia. Unsurprisingly, the lad looked rusty and had a poor first half - but he was no worse than the rest."

He was on the bench this weekend.

Hines went 88 minutes, but had to come off with a hamstring problem yesterday. Boro got a stoppage time equalizer for a 2-2 home draw with Watford.

    From American Soccer Now:

Yesterday Seb Hines played a full game for Middlesbrough’s reserve side as the team lost 2-1 to Stoke’s reserves. Hines’ proposed January loan move to Birmingham City fell through and he remained on the bench for the first team’s Saturday 0-0 draw against Doncaster Rovers. Manager Aitor Karanka hasn’t played Hines in the first team yet, but had this to say: “Seb Hines is not playing at this moment but I have confidence in him. He trains well every day and has experience.”

Manager Aitor Karanka, formerly of the Rapids? Huh. Wonder if he's predisposed to more Yanks.

Don't see why he would be...only spent a year in MLS and it wasn't exactly when our best soccer was being played.

Didn't even make the bench today. Seb is definitely struggling for playing time.

Does he have a decent chance to crack the starting lineup?

Boro ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against Hartlepool in a match that finished in almost total darkness due to a Victoria Park power-cut.... There were also starts in an inexperienced back four for 19-year-old Andre Bennett and centre-backs Seb Hines and Christian Burgess, who spent last season on loan with Pools, plus former Victoria Park fans' favourite Dimi Konstantopoulos.

He went the distance, at right back, it appears in Boro's season opening 2-0 home win against Birmingham City.

    From the Boro match report:

A flick from Seb Hines was just out of reach of Kike with Randolph turning round a follow-up attempt for a corner.
