Okay for anybody who is able to get the Seattle webcasts can you give me any tips on what I'm doing wrong? I was able to listen to few games but now nothing. The player pops up but no audio. It just says "re-connecting" over and over but no audio.

I have no problem listening to Charlestons, Portlands, Rochesters and Montreals webcasts but Seattle webcasts are a bitch.

I believe you have to have the Chaincast codec. I have that installed at work and generally have no problems, but I don't at home and Friday's webcast wouldn't work because it for some reason wouldn't launch Windows Media Player, even though it was clearly installed.

I have everything installed, I was able to listen to a couple of sounders games earlier in the season, but for some reason it has stopped working.

It's a shame that station has such a difficult way to listen to it via the net.

Eric is following through with this issue:

For problems with the KKNW webcast, email marck@newschannel1150.com

I've emailed him about the exact software/version requirements as KKNW's site does a piss poor job of letting you know what you have to have installed -- only mention is Windows Media Player -- with version 9 (latest) installed, I still can't get it working :(

More emails might serve two purposes: 1) letting KKNW know there's people out there listening to the Sounders, and 2) simplifying the process for other fans on usldiscussions.com who have been trying fruitlessly to listen to the matches.

    Try this:

    1) Clean out your cookies/temporary internet files/etc.

1a) Go to add/remove programs and make sure chaincast is not there. If it is, remove it.

    2) Download and install the latest Windows Media Player (probably version 9.* if you have Win2K or XP)

    3) Click on the Listen Live link on KKNW's site. It "should" then prompt you with an installation script for Chaincast VMR 3.0. This is an additional activex control that piggybacks on WMP to allow streaming from chaincast enabled radio stations.

    4) Install the Chaincast. You may have to accept a certificate at the end of the installation. On DSL/cable connections, this is pretty quick, dialup may take a few minutes.

    5) You should see a streaming window after this. It won't be a WMP window but will be titled Microsoft Internet Explorer. It should buffer and then play.

Notes: I tried this on W2K + SP3 and Win XP + SP1 with Internet Explorer 6+SP1 and this seems to work.

This did not come from KKNW (I haven't gotten a response from them yet), but a bit of "trial and error" on my part.

Followed your instructions exactly, I get the player, but no sound. It says "reconnecting" but never connects.

    Oh well.

They may only stream certain programs, not everything they broadcast. Try it again during some program they say they stream or the next match.
