Is anyone making the midweek trip? Flights are cheap starting at $89 each way through Southwest. Is the airport far from the stadium? Their stadium is downtown, right? I'm trying to find any kind of hotel deals that anyone comes across. Upon my first look, rooms seem to be pricey in the city.
Hostel Seattle is cheap and awesome if you don't mind not having a room to yourself. I've always driven there, so I don't know about the airport, but the stadium is downtown (well, sort of the edge of downtown it seems like) and walking distance from most places if you're not injured or lazy.
I have family in Seattle that has been calling me for about two weeks now saying we need to come up for the game. (uncle is a STH, in fact) because of the timing - stupid mid-week games - it won't be happening. I blame Garber and his retarded new playoff format! To those of you that do travel: represent!
Anyone that is coming up, don't bother with renting a car unless you plan on doing some sight seeing. There is a light rail line that goes directly from the airport to downtown Seattle. If you're coming day of, there is also a stop right by the stadium, take the International District station, not the Stadium station. http://www.soundtransit.org/Schedules/Central-Link-light-rail.xml http://www.soundtransit.org/Fares-and-Passes/Link-fares.xml
I have taken said light rail from the airport to downtown and highly recommend it. No need for a car in Seattle. Parking is too expensive everywhere anyway. They also have free buses downtown during the day.
I thought the word on Southwest that it was always Tuesday's? But I don't know - haven't flown SW in a long, long time. Regardless, I think that being roughly a week away will trump any minor weekday variability.
