I just want to give you guy's a big kudos for another awesome attendance last night. 35,521 supporters on Halloween night! I love watching games from Qwest Field, the atmosphere is awesome!
I agree. I'm not even necessarily a Sounders fan, but it is the most enjoyable game to watch on TV, because of the crowd. I think it's how almost EVERYONE wishes EVERY crowd was. And all this atmosphere WITHOUT a SSS!? And for most of the game I didn't see alot people sitting down. A good majority of the crowd stood for the entire game. Well done.
I attended the Sounders vs Wizards game at Qwest this April and the atmosphere was great. 35K fan's and the majority of fan's were standing the entire match. I highly recommend all american soccer fan's to make your way out to Seattle for a match. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks a lot Sooner. The 100 level pretty much stands the entire match ever since game 1 last year. The 200 levels generally sits as far as I know. P.S. Can we have our Sonics back please? Thanks. (Sorry, couldn't resist)
There is a history behind that... last year at the beginning there was no stadium policy about standing vs sitting. There were a lot of stories about physical violence breaking out between fans because a bunch wanted to stand, while others wanted to sit and security didn't know what to do... The Sounders FC message boards went nutballs insane about it. So about halfway through last year, they finally adopted the policy that 100-level sections can stand if you want to, so everyone does, but in the sideline 200-level club seats, security will force people to sit if they are asked... so pretty much everyone sits. THEN, halfway through last year they expanded seating by opening up the 6000 seats in the sections behind ECS without telling them what they were getting into... So, MORE violence-- this time between flag-wavers and people trying to grab them away because their views were blocked... More clueless security. Sounders FC messages boards went insane again... etc, etc. There were a lot, a LOT of growing pains involved in making the crowd what it is today.
Hmmm...that's interesting. I've had season tickets since the first year and am in the 100 level. Unfortunately I was unable to make it to the first ever game. I was unaware that all that had taken place that game. But I just remember when I went to game two with my dad (who had been at the first game) he said everyone stood the whole game and expects that will happen again at game two. It's kinda nice that it has stayed that way too. I was a little afraid at the second year season opener people would be sitting. There's been a couple of occassions where people that have bought one-off tickets behind us yell for us to sit down. Then I laugh and tell them we haven't sat down for two years. Maybe they should print on 100-level tickets that the crowd may be standing in front of them (almost like an obstructed view ticket) so that people that buy one-offs know. It's also good that it seems 200-level tickets enforce sitting. Not everyone wants to or can stand during the game and there should be a choice.
Thankfully the 200 level fans in my section (214) and the surrounding sections all stand. It is a misconception that the 200 level sits, maybe over in Club?
SCREW the haters! lol Like I've said on another string, they're the ones that can't even get 11,000 people to come to a game on "Jenna Jameson Pole Dancing and Free BMW" night
I don't think it's a misconception, you're just really lucky with your section I'd love to stand but I am in a 200 section where everyone sits. People only stand up on corners, breakaway runs, etc. I've put in to move down to the 100 section, but i am at midfield and don't want to lose that position either.
You are still in the corner though... I throw that in with "the South End". When I've looked, the standing stops right around the endlines... 213 might stand too. I know 230 does, but north of that is club and I'm pretty sure they sit. I have no idea what happens in the north end though. My understanding was that's mostly family seating, but I remember noticing a bunch were standing during the playoff game.
I absolutely love standing. It is so awesome. I stand every game and never plan to stop. It's also cool that there are sitting areas for those who prefer to sit.
c'mon that's crazy... LA are the best team in the league right now, and despite what Alexi Lalas says, we were always underdogs in this series. They were supposed to win on paper. You can't always expect to beat better teams in their stadium, period.
Huge credit to your fans who came to LA last night and stood and sang all night. As an LA STH I loved seeing and hearing it. Can't wait to come north for a game or two in the next few seasons.
I'm sure it probably stings a little bit being knocked out of the playoffs for all the Sounders fans, and I'm glad - but I don't mean that in a vindictive way. I mean - it's great to see that real team passion for the Sounders. Great traveling support and Congratulations on your season. It's really an astounding franchise start and the end to a good season. Really, Sounders fans and players have a lot to be proud of and to be excited about - 4th best team this season and a core group of young players. Congrats.
I wasn't able to make it up to Seattle or out to any of the away matches this season but I have always been impressed so far with how the atmosphere continues to progress since day 1 in the MLS. This September I got to go to 2 Borussia Dortmund matches in Germany where they have the largest standing only section the sudtribune. Very awesome atmosphere! I just hope that the away supporters that come up to Seattle take that back to their own stadiums so that the MLS can not only continue to progress on the pitch but in crowd atmosphere as well.
