Except for a single seat here and there, you can't find 2 seats together anywhere in the next 3 home games from ticketmaster at any price. http://www.ticketmaster.com/search?tm_link=tm_header_search&q=sounders&search.x=0&search.y=0
Who wants to sift through seven pages of analysis of "announced" attendances on the off-chance that there might be some info in there about Seattle's upcoming attendances? There always has to be a thread Nazi....
When was the last time a MLS team sold out 28,500+ tickets for 5+ consecutive home games? These are all paid tickets too. This is a first for MLS and it deserves a mention.
Toronto has been doing this for three years, limited only by its capacity. That said, well done Seattle.
Today's Seattle Times... Soccer, the beautiful game, is hip in Northwest There is a sustained energy at Qwest Field that wasn't there at Memorial Stadium or the Kingdome when the old Sounders played. The level of soccer is much higher and the fans are more attuned to the nuances of the game.
Nicely done. Its nice to see attendance up-swinging on average. Im sure Whitecaps will pull similar. Really good for the league, but makes those 11k teams look a bit....
"The game's evolution, from that one Saturday in 1961 to this season's sold out houses at Qwest Field...." That part always makes me chuckle. I mean, 28K is a terrific number for MLS, but sold out? Maybe FC Dallas should put tarps over half of its seats so that they too can announce "sellouts."
All? There's no such thing as a game with all paid tickets. Sponsors, advertisers, comped player tickets, etc.
Right...... because sponsors and advertisers don't pay for the right to be associated with the team/league. Those cost do get figured in, whether it's spelled out or not. the point being made, however, is that unlike some othr clubs that have massive giveaways of tickets.... these are for the most part being SOLD to fans of the club and not used as an enticement for the possibility of future sales.
Oh man, the owners should have a tough decision to make on supply and demand. Even a pro "Qwest field 27,000" capacity like me is having a hard time keeping my own positions. Tough, very tough.
I wouldn't be suprirsed if they pretty much sell out the whole year at this rate. The way the team is producing on the field is going to keep them coming back as far as I can tell. But will they be doing the same in 2 or 3 years? Stay tuned...
If the Seahawks and Mariners don't get any better we could be seeing this, but they're developing the religious following that many MLS fans want for their team.
Probably not, but it seems silly to worry about anything in MLS 2 or 3 years down the road. DC United could be in a different city, average attendence to fall back below 14,000, a million things good + bad could happen, etc. Enjoy the moment!
