Personally, I think they should keep giving out the seat cushions for a couple more games.. What are your thoughts?

Not a good idea, with two long delays clearing field me thinks MLS head office will be phoning TFC to say forget these ideas.

I'd leave it as a one off.

    But:

When the goal was scored, from my corner location with the RPBs coundnt believe the sight of hundred of cushions flying through the aire as I looked down the entire length of the east stands. It was an amazing site. I'll never forget it. I wish I had a video from that angle. WOW!

I'll be honest, it was pretty awsome when every one threw them down, and good thing I asked for two because I was able to throw one of them. But I assure you they wont be giving those out again. It was just awsome when they made the announcment to stop and everyone started booing. Pretty compfortable to sit on. :D

All you people who threw your seat cushion make me sick. You are an embarassment to the city of Toronto. Why do you feel the need to interfere with the event you've paid money to see? You pay to watch the game...you are a fan...a spectator. What if Ronnie O'Brien, fresh off a knee injury, slipped on one of those cushions?

I truly don't get it. I feel like it was the mob mentality at it's worst. Anyone who throws something on the field, and justifies it by saying that other people do it in other places can go to hell. There is nothing good about embracing a hooligan mentality....that's why they're called hooligans. It was a despicable display by a bunch of amature fans.

If you've never been to a sporting event, don't feel the need to over compensate. As a sports fan I'll tell you, nothing is more repulsive than a bunch of people caught up in the moment, but destroying that moment by acting like a bunch of jack-asses. People actually set the turf on fire! There were two flares thrown on the field and they started small fires. Disgusting!

Have some class. Be the loudest, but show some class.

If throwing seat cushions is the worst you guys can do, I will not recommend you coming to a Dynamo game in Houston

He'd probably think it was funny.

For some reason the thought of foam cushions being considered dangerous reminds me strongly of the Spanish Inquisition......

When I was given mine on the way in, my first thought was "this is not a good idea".

why do people worry about foam projectiles?? Who cares if they throw them? They're FOAM!! In addition, this isn't the US. You won't get sued for a fake injury with a foam particle.

    From the Toronto Star:
    http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/213317

    ....
Witness a seat cushion giveaway that quickly became a Frisbee-fest as fans discovered the padded white discs travelled nicely, first at the opening whistle and then midway through the first half when Danny Dichio scored the first goal in franchise history.
"I've never seen anything like that. That just shows the loyalty and the passion of our fans," said rookie midfielder Maurice Edu, who scored Toronto's third goal.
"I'm thankful to be playing here as opposed to coming in and playing against this team. I'm glad these fans are behind us."
    .........
Toronto coach Mo Johnston said he loved the aerial wave of cushions, while admitting he took one to the head late in the game.

If the coach isn't whining about being hit in the head.. why should you??

I thought it added to the great atmosphere. Hope they give out tiny plush adidas soccer balls next time.

And as the sanctions come in, so will the appeals, and the hardball debate, and the lampoons...and more fuel for the MLS Fan Rivalries board...

    Somebody call forensic.

I gotta tell you...you're absolutely right on the comfortable sit. When I first got to my seats and parked my arse down, I thought, great, I'm bringing this with me every game.

Rocky, lighten up, man! You're once again over-reacting with this holier-than-thou attitude of yours. The reaction was spontaneous and understandably appropriate for a soccer-crazy fan base that suffered throught 300+ minutes waiting for the FIRST EVER goal. I might agree with you if this became a regular occurrence but today, it just seemed right!:D

Wow.. i don't know what to say to this.

    I'll start with the easiest...

The flares? Frigging idiotic and totally inexcusable. Flares onto the field stupid, dangerous, and as witnessed damaging to the field. Time to call in a repair crew, and get some replacement fieldturf for that section. Hope it never happens again.

    now to the cusions...

Throwing them at individual players.. i can see the arguement there, though they were harmless.. but shouldn't be just chucking them at players during play.

Now as to when they scored, and they came raining down enmasse... it was glorious. beautiful even. Years from now people will be telling there kids about that when they take them to their first games.

I watched the game on TV with the sound down and the first thing I thought was; "Why are they giving away freesbees?" It was great though.

Yeah maybe it was a bad idea to give them out. And it is highly unlikely to be repeated but are you not being a little too harsh on a majority of the fans there?

I don't think I'm being harsh at all. Again it's this "caught up in the moment" excuse. It's just not cool to throw things on the field. It doesn't matter what it is, foam or not. Maybe alot of people at the game have never been to a sporting event before. I couldn't believe it.....and I can't believe how accepting you people are at acting like a bunch of low class clowns. Do you actually think you have the right to throw things on the field?

My voice is almost gone from yelling. I chanted and stomped the whole game..that's what a fan does.

In the coming weeks security will get tighter. You will ruin a cool thing by acting like idiots.

I notice most of you ignore the flare on the field comment. Is that okay also? It was only two flares.....only two burn marks....what's the big deal?

Yeah the flare throwers should be condemed as that is just too damn dangerous and could cause serious injury. But all the cushions being thrown was nowhere near as bad though. And it is not going to happen again as they will not be as stupid to give out cushions again. So it is no big deal and not worth making much more fuss about.

I wouldn't want to see this every game, but as a one off for celebrating our first ever goal it was great.

Seriously Roc, do you have to be a stick in the mud on everything? Why is this an embarassment to Toronto? Because we might ruin our super goody goody image? God it's about time if you ask me (and 20,100 other people).
