Note the lack of actual season ticket numbers provided. The conspiracy theorist in me says that they're just trying to keep us quiet while they sharpen the knife. Just remember that the Miami Fusion had their best attendance ever in 2001.
Well MLS clubs have always been circumspect regarding their season ticket numbers. That's at very least some promising news. Nice job SJ Fans.

That way, we all win.
Well J Moore said that he resigned because it was becoming difficult to sell tickets given the rumors regarding Club America. So does this mean that he overstated that challenge, they would've done even better if there hadn't been those rumors or it was more of a personal decision?
I never thought JM told why he resigned other than the fact that he and the front office were headed in different directions......no specifics
It was one of the reasons he gave in that interview that was posted on here, and something that it seemed fans on here were in an uproar about.
IIRC, he did say one of the reasons he resigned was because the Club America rumors were severely hampering the ability to sell season tix. i suspect they would have broken the record a while ago if not for teh Club America crapola, but I'm just glad they broke it anyway and hopefully will still sell a few more. also, the note that they expect 15-20,000 for Adumania - for an afternoon game - was good news as well.
Not to mention that the SE would be filled with Chicago fans. Most musicians I know do lots of drugs, this may be the case.
did he really say that? wow. i didn't know that. well, my section was packed anyway...8th row, about the 40 yard line on the $15 side.
... which was prolly his way of ducking out of a tense situation. Tix reps always walk a fine line between over-blowing figures and letting the cat out of the bag as per the actual figures. My experience has been that they've been fairly honest by giving the company line w/ plenty of room for reading between the lines. In other words, I'd believe the 15-20K figures thrown out. If they predict at least 15K to their most loyal fans but only 9K show up, that makes them look really bad.
If you give him the benefit of the doubt, you could interpret that he meant that he expected the open sections to be full, and since it was his first game he didn't have a good concept of how a certain number of tickets sold translates to crowdedness in the stands. At the Club Quake tailgate he acknowledged that the attendance would not be good. I don't know about the Fire fan thing, though. They aren't lying about having good sales for next week.
It looks like that there will be over 15,000 or so for "Freddymania" next weekend. The whole season ticket news release is fishy at best since no number was mentioned. From the 4/23/04 press release: "We are pleased to set a new record for season-ticket sales," Earthquakes President and General Manager Alexi Lalas said. "But we are in no way satisfied. We know that we have a long way to go and while it is encouraging, we are ready and willing to improve on these numbers." To be safe, if there are still between 5,000 and 11,999 in attendance for the Metros game, something amok is going on. It's about results. With a championship team you expect people to be flocking the gates.
Anyone know what numbers we're talking about here? I'm just curious how many people have actually bought season tickets this year? Or what have the numbers been in other years?
