Even though I'm out here in SD, I get the Power email newsletter. I wish the Spirit had this promotion!

JOIN THE POWER PLAYERS AT A SCREENING OF
    "BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM"

Sign up for season tickets or a mini-plan today and you'll be coming to the movies with the team! All Power subscribers will be invited to a screening of one of the year's brightest, funniest and most refreshing films, "Bend it Like Beckham". The film was a smash hit in the United Kingdom and opens in North American next month.

"Bend it Like Beckham" is the story of an Anglo-Indian family in London trying to raise their soccer-playing daughter in a traditional way. The main character, Jess, dreams of playing in the WUSA but has to choose between her family tradition and her beloved sport. The film features highlights of the Power's own Tiffeny Milbrett as well as other WUSA players. Reviewers are comparing "Bend it Like Beckham" to other critically acclaimed independent films such as The Full Monty, The Brothers McMullen and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Everyone needs to go see this movie! I got my copy of the movie several weeks ago and passed along copies to other friends and they have absolutely loved it.

Tsunami I wouldn't be suprised if most if not all teams do something similar. This past Wednesday or so the Freedom had a morning screening of the movie in DC and then Carrie Moore and the director held on online chat with the Washington Post to discuss the movie.

One of the suggestions I floated out there is that all teams should have some type of fundraiser in conjunction with a screening of this flick. Sell tix at a reasonable price and donate all the money to a local childrens charity.

Another idea is to have a WUSA commercial as part of the trailer before the movie starts.

Also, both the WUSA and USWNT should consider selling this movie (if it ever becomes available for distribution here in the states) at matches.

Wasn't it Jules the one that wanted to play professionally in America?
