This is a road trip that every Barra member and united fan should think about making.

    It is the season opener.

We need to welcome all the new members of the team in Barra Style. Their first impression should be seeing the away support not the right field wall.

    It is a United game.

    Date: March 29, 2008

Ticket Price: $36.50 ($35.00 plus $1.50 Pay Pal Fee)

Payment Info: Pay the money to jigiel @ nealon. com (obviously you need to remove the spaces from the email address when sending the money). If for some reason you can not do paypal please pm me.

Seating Location: The party deck (holds 50) or the corner kick suite (holds 20) both with a private bar.

Whether we stand in the party deck or the corner kick suite will be determined by how many people we bring. I have inquired as to a cutoff date and will let everyone know what is as soon as I know. Please sign up sooner rather than later.

Banners: Allowed. The KC FO is checking on restrictions due to in place signage

Flags: Allowed. Need to be cleared at gate but our flags should not be an issue.

    Unsolicited Commentary:

I know the ticket prices are higher than for other games, but this will be the first game at the minor league baseball park and it will be a sell out (I was in disbelief as well). There is no other location at the stadium where United fans will be able to stand. The benefit of the location is that they apparently have one of the better views of the field, we have a private bar, and we will be able to stand, jump and wave flags. The corner kick suite is just a bigger deck it is not really a suite.

Also, the “grass berm” area behind the goal is supposedly too steep to allow people to stand on it.

While I am not thrilled about the higher ticket prices or the location, I think we should give the KC front office the benefit of the doubt before starting to complaint about them screwing over away fans. Our contract there has so far been helpful and based on everything I know has been very supportive of trying to develop a supporter’s culture at KC. I know they suck, but believe it or not they are a 1000x better than they used to be. First game in a minor league ballpark with a small capacity presents unique issues and I think the KC office front office is doing the best they can. Our seat location will be the same as for all away fans this year.

Hotel: Still working on the best option. I will post potential hotel information soon.

Flights: There a lot of one stop flights under 200. There are direct flights for around 300.00

The Area: Although 20-25 minutes outside the city the stadium is located in the Village West area. Lots of bars, places to eat etc. http://www.villagewest.us/

Any member of the SE's, LN or unaffiliated fan is welcome to order tickets. There is no surcharge on tickets (except to cover the pay pal fee).

I'm going to look into making this trip. I wasn't too interested before, but I like the minor league stadium thing. I like the party decks that most of those stadiums have. That would be a blast.

Sure it's a bit more expensive of a game ticket, but only by $10 or so. And quite frankly, if $10 is a possible make or break number, you shouldn't be going on the trip anyway. Save it and prepare for the recession. :D

I have to be in Colorado the following week for Nationals, but I've looked into flights and it's a very do-able 3 city flight. Would be one hell of a trip. Fly to KC on Friday and go to the opener, then fly to Denver on Sunday and compete in Nationals for Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Boardercross over the next 4 days, then fly home on Friday and catch the home opener that weekend. That would be one hell of a 10 day span. I may need an iv at work the next week, but it would be worth it.

    You could say that.

So folks know, there is a very reasonably-priced hotel in the parking lot of the ballpark. I am meeting with them this week to discuss group pricing for visiting supporters throughout the year.

Also check out http://www.legendsshopping.com. Village West is extremely convenient to the airport (20 minute drive, all highway), and car rental in KC is very reasonable.

Thanks to Jay for helping to get this set up. If you have questions, feel free to email me at spierron at kcwizards.com.
