Just to pile on about how pathetic this was:

We brought everyone back, stayed relatively healthy, did not have to deal with CCL or a compressed schedule, signed an $11M striker...and finished with fewer points than last season.

 

Theyre finally actually sh!tting on the team in their last hurrah...lol.

 

Thank god CBJ is playing next week.

If only we had a coach that could tell Cucho to play around the box, instead of dropping into defensive midfield and running with the ball for 70 yards.

When cucho first go here, I had seats near the sideline where he was pretty much instructing the team the opposite of that. He wanted the ball to Diaz and for Diaz to hit him in the box. Why he became a #10 toward the end of the season, is a major question.

 

Well saw the updates on my phone. Can't say I'm surprised, since I voted lose by 1.

Blow up the roster...even our dps are replaceable. This roster doesn't make any sense and never has, even after getting cucho no changes were made to strategies or tactics.

The haslams have laid alot of eggs lately, and karma's a bitch.

 

You build around cucho and Lucas.
I think Diaz and Etienne can stay.
Everyone else should be asked to:
Take a pay cut
Leave
Retire

Adios 2022 Columbus Crew SC, when you weren’t awful on the field you were embarrassing or offensive off the field. A total waste of a year. A joke. Porter, Bez, Haslam, Edwards all to blame. Thankful it’s over.

 

Watching the game was a downer. I decided to watch something more uplifting to raise my spirts.

I’m watching The Handmaid’s Tale.

One of the things I’ll always treasure about the 2022 Columbus Crew is the repeated opinions of “soccer experts” that the 2021 season was a failure due to injuries and not a failure of full makeup and brain trust of this club.

I will cherish these memories into future seasons when these same experts excuse mediocrity out of their “love” for the club and question people who find awful performances, awful, on whether they are a true fan.

The soccer experts of 2021-2022 are my club mvp. They epitomize a rudderless club in decline with no plan for the future.

When is the end of season banquet?

Thing is striker wasn’t the issue I’d rather kept Zardes and spent 11m on a goal scoring winger

 

I believe our problems started at the FO with the unneeded change to the Crest! What’s our record with this Crooked generic C ? It can’t be good and that is called Karma

I told you we would be cursed for changing a perfectly good logo , the Soccer gods have spoken !

 

Never would work because stoppage time as well unless you had a set time for everyone to start the second half . Even then ganes would not end at same time

 

Many will blame the coach, and that is fair. Playing for the tie 5 min into the second half is just dumb Not taking corners & FKs is mostly dumb.

But our best players let us down. Mensah overgambled when he should be playing safe. Nagbe stopped playing. Cucho is too selfish, he has to hit Morris there. And Degenek puts his hand up on a scrum in the box. Cannot do that.

Keep LZ & Etienne & Morris. That is your core. Maybe Moreira & Diaz. Artur if he can stay healthy.

 

The nightmare is over. This has absolutely been the most frustrating season in 27 seasons supporting this club. When your team has no talent, you expect losses every match, when they tie or win it is a joyous occasion. This team showed class and skill, and then in the same match, blunders, bunkering, giving up leads and ties and turning them into ties(too many) and loses. A lack of composure, missing chemistry between the players, and an inability to manage the match has been the issue. This should be the last match for Caleb Porter as Head Coach in Columbus. What ever he is doing to prepare the club for matches, and his in-match decisions, are simply not working.

I did some research. We have made the playoffs 16 times in 27 seasons. The longest streak for consecutive years not making the playoffs is three(2005, 2006, 2007). The longest streak for consecutive years making the playoffs is four(1996, 1997, 1998, 1999). During the Haslam/Edwards Investor/Operator period, we have missed the playoffs 3 out of 4 seasons(2019-2022).

 

I concur. The Crest/name change thing has caused us to lose the favor of the soccer Gods, which we had after 2020.

I also have a deep, visceral dislike for Dee & Jimmy. And given that they literally saved this club, which I love, less than 5 years ago, that is quite the trick.

 

We’ve watched one of the most mediocre seasons of soccer coached by one of the most frustrating and stubborn coaches in a long time yet here we are blaming a damn logo change and “soccer gods”….
