I have never been so wrong about anything in my life…. 4 years ago when we were broke as hell we paid 10 million Euros for a coach with close to no experience and was a former Benfica player. I laughed to hard I almost cried as we could use every Euro to buy players we so desperately needed! I thought that move was the most Sporting thing ever and we would be in a 3rd and 4th place battle forever. What an absolute fool I was as Ruben was the best move Sporting have ever made as long as I can remember being a fan. Thank you Ruben for all the glory and respect you have brought our club!

Incredible coach and he goes down as an absolute club legend. Ending our trophy draught, re-integrating the youth players, rebuilding the team to then come back and win another title, I just love him. Everything about that victory yesterday shows what he’s done for the club. We’re never down and out in any game and the players just had this desire to keep digging and digging. Hope he is a massive success at Man United if they give him the time to shape the squad to his requirements. Im a bit worried for us, there’s some logic to promoting JP for continuity purposes and not instilling new ideas mid way through a season, but I just don’t think he’s going to be able to keep us playing this way and win the big games to bring us the title. Best of luck to him as I’d love him to be a success and I hope to be proven wrong
I worry about JP a little bit too. Ruben has always come across as well spoken and intelligent in his career. JP has always come across as a long lost member of the Conceicao family. I hope he doesn’t ******** this up. And I hope if he does, Varandas has the courage to find someone better this summer. it is kinda funny that our league has gone from Amorim, Conceicao and JJ managing the big three to JP, Lage, and whoever the ******** Porto’s manager is in just a couple years. Quite a legendary drop off.
