Torn patellar tendon for Nuno Santos. Incredibly difficult injury to recover from. He'll be out at least a year.

What's with all these rumors that Man U is paying Amorim's buy out clause! This better be total BS

It was to be expected, now it's all anyone talks about is Amorim to United.

Let's see what happens, he was also sure to join Liverpool last summer too.

I guess this is what happens when you are a medium sized fish in the world futebol ocean....when you have some success the big fish come along and take what they want (so far Viana and Amorim, next will be some players)

I don't get why they didn't just bounce in the summer. The whole "I'm staying!" bullshit was to wait until a better opportunity came 10 games into the season?

Shouldn't expect any less from spineless cowards Benfiquista

I know he doesn’t really care about or owe Sporting anything, but it is a bit of a bitch move. He could’ve had a perfect exit at the end of the season. Or he could’ve just given some vague answers. Instead, he had to swear loyalty and promise to run it back. He always seemed desperate to leave so it’s not super surprising, but it is tough timing. I bet we’ll see him at benfica in a couple years.

Wouldn’t be surprised if both Pote and Gyokeres leave in the winter too. Although I hope Sporting has finally learned its lesson with United and stops offer discounts. Buy out clause only.

I don’t have a ton of faith in JP, but what other option is there really… SC taking charge and winning the league would be pretty funny. I still think he’s the best Portuguese manager right now, held back by being a tremendously shit person.

Sporting release an official statement confirming that we want 10m for Amorim for his release clause and they are willing to pay it. Basically, it's out of our hands, only Amorim can decide if he wants to stay.

My hope is that the team doesn't magically forget how to play in this system so far and that they can at least keep the rhythm going this season.

Similar to enzo leaving for Chelsea. Both leaving a team that are doing amazing to join some below mid team who isn’t even in the cl. I could understand if it was city or Real Madrid calling but mannutd? Embarassing

10mil is also insanely cheap. We could raise his Braga release clause by even 1mil?

Timing sucks, I get it but chance of a lifetime for him . Did a great job for Sporting and did turn down two other EPL teams in the past .

you trying to make him sound loyal? He was basically whoring himself out it last summer then opted to stay when his only option was west ham

Amorim was relatively unknown as well, and they have put a lot of faith in him recently, I think JP has been groomed to be Amorim's replacement for a while now. Whether that will translate to being a winning coach is another story. Luis Neto is being rumoured to be part of the staff

Yea I think similarities are accurate but as a player your career is limited. Anything can happen. Injury, etc. As a manager, you have time and Amorim is young. There's literally no rush to join a club that's been dysfunctional since SAF left over a decade ago.

He may have been relatively unknown, but he had decent results and an established way of playing everywhere he went. JP has had pretty shit results. Also, Amorim is amazing with the press and his players, JP has never been good at that.

U23 team too. All that being said, I’m sure I was probably very negative about Amorim when he was signed too, so what do I know

We all were. No one expected him to be this good. Conventional wisdom says give JP a chance but we're not a basement team anymore. We have to aim higher.

l mean, for the sake of argument, let’s ignore the fact that this is obviously not true. I feel like you could’ve reasoned this one out in your head. You really think he turned down Liverpool and City, two established teams with world class players, because he was waiting for an utterly shit united team? He was twerking for Liverpool, they never offered him a contract. No idea where you got this City offer from either.

I am going to be absolutely gutted to see him go, but I’ve got no qualms with him whatsoever. He’s given me some of the best memories at our club and deserves to be in the running for top jobs

Yes of course I’d love to see him stay until the end of the year, but when Man United come calling (arguably the biggest club in the world along with Real Madrid) you’re going to answer. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and City all have very secure managers currently and he’s never going to go to Madrid or Barca so why wouldn’t you take it

On the move itself, I’ve said before that I unfortunately think United makes a lot of sense. He’s taking over a massive team, currently in the doldrums and being tasked with raising them back up. Sounds very similar to ourselves if you ask me. Whether he’s a success or not, I don’t know. They’re squad is pretty poor and as it stands I don’t think they have the players available to them in order to optimize his preferred 3-4-3. Playing Bruno in a 2 man midfield could be an accident waiting to happen

Who we get next is massive, but I’m not expecting much from the rest of the season now if I’m honest

So strange there is no winter and summer window to buy a manager unlike players.....

I would feel better if he didn't have a 10 mil buyout clause for big teams and 20 mil for others...seems the big teams could pay it if they really wanted him.

Your saying he did not turn down Liverpool ? Although Man U stinks right now, it’s still Man U ! And when he left Braga, Sportng was not exactly playing great.

Yes that is what stinks about this . The timing sucks and arguably much more damaging loosing a coach like this than a player . Man U were dicks doing this at this time
