Gio's wife is pregnant. 2044 world cup here we come. And puli suffered a kick to the back of his calf in training that tightened up. Thats why he was pulled as a precaution.
Three of us were discussing this while at Hofbrauhaus watching Germany slowly dismantle Curacao. So, the US training camp is in Atlanta. And I know that USSoccer has poured beaucoup money into a training facility in Atlanta. But all three US group matches are on the West Coast. Are they flying back and forth to LA to Atl then to Sea and back to Atl then back to LA???? Isn’t that kinda stupid from a performance standpoint?? Shouldn’t they just have a training camp in the Pacific Time Zone through the Group Phase (presumably in the LA area since two of the three matches are there), then use Atl once making it to the knockout rounds? Wouldn’t it be a harder adjustment to fly back and forth between three time zones for training and matches? I mean, if the goal is a deep run in the knockouts, wouldn’t you want to do what you can to reduce stress and fatigue as much as possible? Or is the ego of The Powers That Be too great re: a shiny new training facility?
The permanent arthur blank training facility is in atlanta. But the WC training facility is about 45-90 minutes from sofi. They only trained in Atlanta until the germany game
With all due respect... the fact that you even considered the idea that they were making cross-country flights after each match instead of training semi-locally during a World Cup... this is a little embarrassing.
The USSF is so well renowned for always making the wisest and most logical decisions—how foolish of me to think they might make a dumb decision about where to train. Like you, I should have automatically assumed they would, as always, have made an intelligent decision. I guess I’ll sit here in the corner with my dunce cap on.
This specific topic was beaten down, but on to other news. Aussie VAR Ref flashing a no-no symbol Yes, he could just be into obscure protestant vexillology, simply wanting to pop his mate in the shoulder, or even a victim of incontrollable ticks. However, this symbol is pretty well known in the land down under because of the Australian who murdered over four dozen people in a religious massacre. Idiots are running with it trying to normalize it. I caught it through Reddit and the username sickens me. It shows just what kind of people dismiss this trash. A Reddit post by u/columbineteamkiller

Time to update this, I suppose. We're in the round of 16. I think I'm ready to call this tournament a success right now. Based on what I/we thought of the team before the World Cup started, some of us were bracing for disaster. Well, we won the group -- impressively -- and now we've beaten a European opponent in a knockout game. With 10 men. I thought reaching this point was the expectation, and we've met it. Now, because of the expansion of the field, we've only actually reached the same point (Rd 16) that we had become used to reaching in prior tournaments, so there's an argument to be made that we've only reached expectations and not exceeded them. But I think Poch has done what he needed to do, and now it's a question of whether or not he can go further than that.
Anyway, obviously I’m just mad because this team is good enough to go very deep in the tournament and I would like to see what our best 11 can do against another team with serious pedigree and if we lose on Monday we’ll never know.
Beat Belgium and put up a fight against Spain and it's a success. The US was a heavy favorite tonight. Monday is a coin flip with the higher level of talent they have and us not having Balogun.
Are they that much more talented than us? Really? They have looked horrible in every match they’ve played. Slow. Old. But lucky
Doku, Courtois, and maybe Lukaku are a step above all our players. But I believe we can make it competitive and maybe press our way into a goal or two. A berhalter set piece too
Of the three you listed One is a GK One can’t play 90 The other (doku) is legit we are due for some luck as well after tonight!
The ESPN bracket page says the US is +150. Here's some more odds, courtesy of DraftKings. https://www.espn.com/soccer/odds/_/gameId/760507
