    * - in terms of how tight it is at the top

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_div_1/default.stm

    Inverness P15 27 points +15GD
    St Johnstone P15 27 points +11GD
    Clyde P15 27 points +6GD
    Falkirk P15 27 points +5GD
Queen of the South P14 26 points +4GD
    Ross County P15 25 points +11GD
    St Mirren P14 14 points -8GD
    Raith Rovers P15 14 points -9GD
    Ayr United P15 11 points -15GD
    Brechin City P15 8 points -20GD

And if Queen of the South draw their rearranged game with St Mirren on Wednesday, there will be five teams tied for the league leadership!

    Incredible, :D

It was advertised in a local paper on Friday that table-topping Queens would switch on the Dumfries Xmas lights and by Sunday (when they were turned on) we were 5th!

Perhaps that head cold I've been suffering from for the last few days has had a bit of an effect on me...

Obviously my tongue was farther inside the cheek than your average Carry On film.

But seriously it is a more interesting league than the SPL (yawns out loud). It would be incredible if the table was like this going into the last few games. And it could be. None of the teams up there are obvious imposters, and I can't see anyone cutting away except maybe Inverness.

If anyones been smoking the crack pipe it's been the Board of Directors at SPL Clubs.
With the exception of Partick and Celtic they're almost all technically insolvent.

Premier League You're Having a laugh.
Nearly £200million pounds debt between 12 clubs.
Daft criteria for entering the league (ie the undersoil heating rule when 2 member clubs don't have it and one isn't allowed to use it at night!!!!

Pitch protection techniques are part of the ground regulations for admission into the SPL. The more infamous regulation is 10,000 seating capacity.

That is why there was a bit of a fuss last year when a match at Motherwell (against Celtic) was postponed due to a frozen pitch. SPL teams are supposed to be able to get matches on in these conditions.

The Killie under soil heating thing is hilarious. Imagine what they told the Caley fans the night that game was called off , 'sorry folks, games off the neighbours are complaining about the noise'. great stuff :D

p.s. davidkennedyshand, really don't miss ayr games, you always gave us a right humpin! Hows whalen doin? still the worlds slowest player? i seem to remember it would look like he was markin the defenders :D

    Shocking ...

QoS lost 2-1 at home to St. Mirren!!!

But I think they have just got a new manager.

St. Mirren haven't got a new manager yet but appartently QotS boss John Connelly has applied for the job!

The lower leagues in Scotland are always close. If Morton lost their final game last season we would have ended 4th, as it turns out we won and ended 1st!! There was only about 10 points between 2nd bottom and 2nd top in the 2nd division last year as well! The leagues are certainly among the most exciting in the world!

Sorry for the delay in replying Scottish Morton been a bit busy lately.

Stephen Whalen is not doing well for us.Seems to have loads of personal problems. He's spoke to a few Ayr fans while out at various local hostelries/nightclubs and basically said he was feigning injury so he could go to the pub.
Missed out the last few games over Xmas and new year with AHEM..Food Poisoning
And yes he's the worlds slowest player.

It always struck me as ironic that to get into the SPL you have to have undersoil heating, when the SPL gets a winter break and the lower division clubs keep playing.
In winter the only grounds with undersoil heating arent being used!
Still as we get the worst weather in january we dont miss much anyway.

Scottish_Morton, for my sins I'm a Killie fan, but don't know that story about a game being called off because of the noise level!!!! You ARE kidding-aren't you?

Nope, the neighbours around Rugby Park were complaining about the noise the under soil heating was making so now it isn't allowed to be on after a certain time at night. So when Caley Thistle came down for a Scottish cup replay the pitch had frozen by half time because they weren't allowed to put the under soil heating on and the game was abandoned.
