As I have predicted in the past, Scott Ritter has skeletons in his closet. There HAD to be a reason why a former UN weapons inspector had suddenly become cozy with Iraq and became Sadam's biggest apologist. Almost certainly, Ritter has probably been blackmailed by the Iraqi regime. Scott Ritter criminal case costs prosecutor her job Ritter -- an outspoken critic of President Bush's plan for war against Iraq -- was arrested by Colonie police in June 2001 after he allegedly was caught in an Internet sex-sting operation, according to a published report. Ritter once led a weapons inspection team in Iraq, but in recent months he's gained attention as an outspoken critic of a new U.S. war with Iraq. Ritter has aired his views on CNN, at news conferences and in numerous interviews. When Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990, Ritter, then a Marine, was sent to Saudi Arabia to help determine where Saddam Hussein was hiding Scud missiles. Ritter left the Marine Corps after the war and was hired by the U.N. to lead a weapons inspection team specializing in concealment. At the time, Ritter said Iraq was "winning its bid to retain its prohibited weapons." But Ritter seemingly has had a change of heart and now speaks out about a U.S. war against Iraq. He claims inspections could keep Hussein in check. In a move that led many to label him a traitor, Ritter on Sept. 8 became the first American to speak to the Iraq National Assembly. He told the Middle East nation that it needed to allow weapons inspectors to return.
Yeah, that's a reasonable conclusion given the fact the case appears like it will be dropped, and it's public record.
This half-baked theory would make some sense if it were an Iraqi prosecutor. Therefore I cannot see any connection between this and the change in Ritter's political outlook. The only difference this story makes is to discredit Ritter personally.
ha ha ha you're really Madame Cleo aren't you Ritter insisting that Iraq let in inspectors is a tad short of a traitorous act ... unless you want to put Powell and the rest of the Administration up for treason too (OK, not Wolfowitz - nobody can deny his patriotism ).
Re: Re: Scott Ritter, former UN weapons inspector = Pedophile Let's see: 1. UN weapon inspector is anti-Iraq and staunchly tries to get them to cooperate with UN mandate. 2. UN weapon inspector gets arrested on charges of pedophilia, in a sealed case. Here's the key: Pedophiles and rapists are known repeat offenders. 3. UN weapon inspector does a complete about face and makes pro-Iraqi and pro-Sadam movies after given $400,000 by said regime. I was born at night, but it wasn't last night. You probably still think Scott Peterson didn't kill his wife Laci, either, right? Heck, you probably think the debate over OJ's guilt or innocence is an open question.
Re: Re: Re: Scott Ritter, former UN weapons inspector = Pedophile Hey - I'm not defending the guy. How would I know why he's blathering no CNBC? It's gotta be the money. Anyway, I have to laugh that, in an effort to demonize him, you turned his dismissed misdemeanor charge into Ritter the full-blown pedophile-leaning-to-rapist. That said ... carry on. Don't let the facts get in your way Ian.
Re: Re: Re: Scott Ritter, former UN weapons inspector = Pedophile I didn't mean the evidence - I meant the indictment. If the BigBadSecret(tm) is that he was arrested and charged with pedophilia... well, the cat's out the bag on that one. Besides, Ian, what ever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? There apparently isn't much of a case, or they wouldn't be considering dropping it altogether. Now, I've got no idea why this guy changed gears on the Iraq situation. But that has nothing to do with this discussion.
Moral High Ground I don't know whether Ritter is a pedophile or not but I think that the lesson of this whole situation is to ignore those who try to claim the moral high ground in policy debates. I find it interesting that those who present themselves are paragons of virtue bravely resisting the perfidy of their opponents are so often revealed to have feet of clay. Argue your position on its merits rather than recasting all policy debates as tests of public morality. That would reduce the impact of finding out that public face of your side (Ritter, Nixon, Clinton, even M.L.K) has skeletons in their closets. Stop demonizing your opponents and try to use facts rather than personal attacks.
There's only one Scotty Ritter, Only one Scotty Ritter, With a check from Saddam, and a cheeky smile, RITTER IS A ******************IN' PEDOPHILE!!! Alex
The case is closed and sealed, however, it is not against the law (as he claims) for him to talk about it - just for court officers, etc. Also, when first approached about the story from a member of the press he lied and said "it wasn't me". But even though he's lieing about a legal case, it's only about sex, so it doesn't matter, right Bill?
Re: Re: Re: Scott Ritter, former UN weapons inspector = Pedophile I haven't been here in a while, but it seems that in observing your "wit" and your referential ponts of debate, that not much has changed...or at least Ian hasn't. Same old foolishness and infantile yearning to be right masquerading as insight. Insight into inspid impotent ignorance, maybe...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Scott Ritter, former UN weapons inspector = Pedophile Yeah, you're right, we need more defenders of PEDOPHILES such as yourself. I guess this story strikes to close to home, maybe.
Re: Moral High Ground That's it...close the board...most would have little left to say, and McCracken might end it all.
