Score one for us

  1. Soccer basher and Jim Rome lackey Jay Mohr had his show Mohr sports cancelled. I guess they'll be no more jokes with soccer as the punchline in his monologue.

"And in soccer, Brazil beat Germany in a 1-0 rout!"

    Rat tat, splash.

"Thanks, folks, I'm here all week."

I didn't watch much of his show, but "USA beat Portugal 3-2 at the World Cup. And in other news, my jock itches" (or something to that effect) was quite funny.

I used to like a show of his called the "Director" on fox or something like that. It was on for all of 3 weeks, but was damn funny.

You're thinking of "Action"? I believe it was meant to be shown on premium cable, but then it went to Fox, so all the curse words were still there, albeit beeped out. Throughly enjoyable stuff.

Mohr does a mean Christopher Walken impression - that's what the ESPN show should've been, All Waken, All the Time.

    Soccer does need more cowbells.

    I've got a fever!

Possible skit idea: Jay Mohr as Christopher Walken does a half time locker room talk. "Babies, when we're done here today, you'll all be wearing gold diapers."

Yes you're right. "Action" was the name of that show. I knew the title had something to do with making movies. Anyway that show was f-ing hilarious. That show is probably my second favorite show to not make it, coming in second to "Sledgehammer" of course. And you're right, his Christopher Walken impression is pretty damn funny.

Bring back Jay Mohr, but rebranded as a Walken impression show, titled "Walken On Air".

Certain types of "humor" require a "victim". Soccer is often the victim for sports comedians in the US, because soccer is a small sport in the media here, sort of like a minority in the population. This "humor" is crude and tries to appeal to people's inner prejudices. When you are part of the minority, it is very offensive. Sensitive people in the majority find it offensive. Those who don't find it offensive and perhaps humorous, are the those in the majority who are prejudiced against the minority.

On KAAZA you can download a "Star Wars Auditions" clip with Kevin Spacey doing Christopher Walken auditioning for the role of Han Solo that competes with Jay Mohr's

    Thanks, I'll look for it.

My favorite is Mohr at Comics Come Home, doing "Your dog.... has no tail." It's more the story than the impression, but still funny as mess.

You must forgive Soccerfan. Soccerfan is incapable of recognizing sarcasm.

What other kind of thread gets so many posts and views? Its amazing, people can't get enough of soccer bashing threads.
