http://www.delcotimes.com/WebApp/ap...r21.content=/DCT/Home/ContentTab_News_1498637 Edited to add: Now would be a great time to sign up for season tickets.
From a supporter of the old Penn-Jersey Spirit in the APSL, remembering the days of playing on Trenton State College's AstroTurf and having to hear "Doctorin' The Tardis" by the KLF instead of "Rock N Roll Part 2" by Gary Glitter because the FO were clueless ... CONGRATS!
thanks for posting bryan. looks like it's finally going to happen! (....been checking this forum every freakin morning for the last 3 weeks waiting for a post like this)
unbeknownst to my wife......our bank account was shrinking as I read the article. tickets, jerseys, bumperstickers!! woo hoo
Congrats Philly. I can see your team being successfull from the get go. Now comes the annoying part. There will be a lot more attacks from different arenas after this announcement. More than you have seen. It's the norm when funding is announced. The good thing is that it seems that you have a decent amount of press on your side compared to other MLS situations. Just respond to all of the attacks, especially the ones that show complete ignorance, and the others that are simply untrue or politically motivated, in a calm and educated manor. Co-ordinate the response on mass if possible. Go after the editors/publishers...not the writers. Saturate the editorial sections. If they do not let you respond (some cities wouldn't print pro editorial letters or printed weak ones to say the least) point this out in other forums or get to the editor, or his boss. Congrats again. This could be an incredible year for the league. Your stadium, NY's finally under construction, Salt Lakes finishing, KC's construction starting, Houston's very possible and DC may finally have a location resolution. The buiding blocks are falling. Hopefully this spurs other psoitive news. Great job SOB's. Keep it up.
Philly In!!? According to the NYC Forum, Philly has been accepted as the next MLS team and there will be an announcement on Thursday. Not sure if this is correct or a wild rumour. If correct, congratulations!!!!
This is awesome to read--thanks Bryan! I'm skiing in Colorado all week and they keep showing Rapids ads on TV. Have to keep checking the forum wherever you are in the world though. Can't wait to see the ads for our team and stadium. Well done SOBs--way to hit the upper 90!
Re: Philly In!!? This is a step closer to having a team announced, but is not the team announcement. This is the state formally announcing it will fund a certain amount.
Also included in the plan will be a few of the things Uncle Thad wanted done. He voiced opposition in the early going, saying that Chester needed a supermarket before a soccer stadium.
I really wanted to be able to type something very memorable in this space...but I am utterly speechless. I guess a few of these will have to suffice
And let's be honest, he's right. And I am glad to see this project already having a positive effect for the residents of Chester.
already did, but now i am glad that it was justified. I am proud to be a member. If i wasn't in class right now i would probably be screaming. So i'll save that for when i pass this news along to my friends.
Awesome news! I'll be doing my part at the games as well. What a glorious alternative to reading articles about Johann Santana to the Mets and how the Phillies have no shot now. This Philly die-hard is pumped!
Hey everyone haven't posted in awhile but kept my ear to the wall for the whole thing. I'd love to share the enthusiasm, but I'm not counting eggs before they hatch. Let's see what the gov has to say tomorrow in Delco before everyone gets all reved up. I hope for the best, but after seeing some epic collapses I expect the worst cas scenario. All the same I hope for a happier tomorrow when that announcement is made so for now good night and good luck.
